Happy birthday for last week CoG.(((Hugs))) Round. What a horrible thing to happen. I hope all the admin hassle is quick and easy.My parents had a very elderly skinny cat they loved, and in his dotage he used to cross the road to sunbathe on black tarmac in front of the garage. Some nasty person reported them to the RSPCA! Given what the family was going through at the time I've never really forgiven the anonymous person for that. On reflection I suppose I should be grateful there are people who care about animals but as my sister-in-law said at the time, 'Haven't we got enough to deal with at the moment?' We had a lot and pretty much everyone in the village knew, too, which is why its left such a negative impression on me.All the windows have now been cleaned and I've oiled the catch on my office window and managed to get it properly shut. That'll do it for the winter. Paperwork cleared again on my desk, convo had with neighbour who has offered to pressure wash our front steps if he can borrow the pressure washer. Win:win. Supper prepped for Belovéd to cook. 23 First Prize awards drafted and a whole weekend's worth of events timetabled for Belovéd.Coats and shoes removed from the airlock because something in there is smelling of damp and I no longer think it's the carpet but I can't work out what it is. Painter and Decorater booked for Friday and Monday to titivate the front of the house because it look really scruffy - fingers crossed the weather holds for him. It's been a cold wet summer and he's had a really hard time doing outdoor work, poor bloke.WM x 1 and all line-dried. Belovéd took his wretched cushion covers to the laundrette at last to run them through a couple of machines to get all the gunk out of them, most of which I rather suspect is the remains of the fire-proofing treatment. Tbh they need to go through a few more washes but at least all the soap is now out. They'll take days to dry but that's okay; at least they won't rot as they dry which they would have without those rinses.Better is good enough.6

Hallooooo. Fortunately it was quiet at work so I was able to fill in and sign the hire agreement for the hire car coming tomorrow and complete the claim form for the insurance. My lift wanted to leave at 3.30pm - so I did too. Had a phone call re delivery of the hire car tomorrow. They're also collecting my car tomorrow. For repair she said. I do hope so. I notice the hire car agreement runs until December so 🤷♀️
I've unpacked my lunch bag, changed into my scruffs, put out the bins for emptying tomorrow.
I'm a bit unsettled. To be expected I suppose. Thank you for your kind words ladies. 😘 One day at a time. Baby steps. And breathe......

Oh dear glad you are OK Round.
I have been to hospital with DS1 for a scan which took a lot longer than I expected, so I am now behind at work. But my boy is far more important than the paid stuff.
Nice to hear from you CandG, pleased that you enjoyed the Paralympics x
I have also put some clean washing away, and given the kitchen a bit of a clean. I really need to start doing some proper cleaning in this house, maybe deep clean a room a week. The windows need cleaning too.
We are watching telly and a big old spider keeps scuttling out from under the TV unit. DH keeps shooing it back again to stop it coming down my end of the room. What a hero.7 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes.Sorry to hear about your accident Round but glad you're ok. I hope that tomorrow is less stressful for you Valli.I don't know where today has gone. I had plans to all sorts of things but ll I seem to have done is put away a couple of deliveries, make meals and wash up. I also did some internet research as the car is throwing up an error message. I think it will need to go in, which is a hassle and doubtless more expense. The new tap looks very nice but the hot water seems to come out even slower than before - it's driving me mad. I will need to get the pump installed, which the plumber suggested as a solution, sooner rather than later I think. I'm going to ask in one of the other boards if anyone has any alternative ideas though because it wasn't slow before we had a monobloc tap.7

Evening all.
Well flown, kaz. You amaze me with all your physical activity x
Hope you get a nice hire car, round x
Family definitely comes first YL x
By 9.30 this morning I had already wiped heavy condensation off all the upstairs windows; changed the heating timer/thermostat to its winter schedule; completed a money shuffle, Wordle and Connections without loss of life; done WMx1 (not hung out because of the weather forecast); prepped and started tonight's tea in the SC; made my bed; breakfasted; S&S'd the kitchen and tidied the LR; and got dressed. After that, things mostly went downhill.
However, part of the reason was that today is my German godson's 21st birthday. I very much wanted to let him know that I was thinking of him, but I've never had a means of contacting him directly, and correspondence with his mother has almost ceased since she remarried 3 years ago. I sent her a brief email asking her to pass on a "Happy Birthday " message, and was amazed to get an answer this afternoon - normally it takes weeks to get a reply. He had asked her to give me his email and phone number, so I rang him immediately and we are both extremely pleased to be back in touch. Hopefully I shall get to see him again in the not-too-distant future. I was particularly happy to find that I am still able to hold a phone conversation in German without having to think about it - it must be all the dreaming in German that has helped!
While J the gardener attacked the chocolate vine yet again, I also managed to produce a traybake of German plum cake for tonight's pudding evening organised by a little group that DH attends most months, though I usually only go when I have been asked to provide something. It would have been rude not to have accompanied him there to add my plate to the table and sample other people's offerings: carrot cake, pavlova, toffee apple cake, mini gooey chocolate pots... I am still feeling stuffed.
Bed calls. See you tomorrow xxx6 -
@ionafan A monthly pudding group; what a good idea. I'm very envious of your DH lol.

@Cloth_of_Gold they meet monthly but fortunately only have a pudding evening about once a year, otherwise my DH would be twice the size he is now - and he’s not exactly petite!8
