Well, I've had quite a productive hour since posting last. I cleaned the bathroom basin, mirror and floor and had a go at the limescale around the basin taps, including one small, particularly stubborn piece of which I removed about 98%. I've also washed up, cleaned the kitchen floor and wiped the bin, white goods, worktop and cupboard doors. The floor is nearly dry and when it is I shall put everything back and start on my book, as long as A doesn't wake up in the mean time and put paid to that! Not bad for 60 minutes work.

Phone call came just after 1pm. Car was on my drive by 10 to 2. Once it got to one o'clock I arranged with work to have the whole day off. Which meant I was free to have a practice drive to get used to the gears and brakes before I commute tomorrow.
And breathe ....

Freezer replacement a joke.. it is black for a start, mine is silver.. £600 more than I paid for mine and very slightly bigger but it doesn't have half the features I use on mine (spotify, amaz0n, y0utube, recipe/meal planner, alex@... so much stuff) .. so I have opted for the refund and will use this one until it dies and then get the upgraded model on interest free when this one gives up the ghost.. you never know I might be able to get an even better one.. I also feel bad utting this one in a landfill when it is functioning, if not at its best. The current upgraded model which they didn't offer was £200 cheaer than what I was offered and had the right features is slightly more energy efficient (e rather than Frating) So anyway.. decision made...
Dentist and opticians done.. Twinkles have new glasses, Pixie has 11 more teeth to get so her mouth may be very full.. Twinkles teeth are just within the realms of normal colour.. they are really dark yelow and look permanently dirty.
2 items sold so I need to ackage those.
SALT appointment done..
I need a nap!!!
Round.. hope the car is satisfactory

Airlock spring cleaned, shoes and gibble put back, jackets airing on the dining room chairs and door. Niffy item still not identified so it's going to have to be two jackets back in at a time day by day to see if I can identify where the problem is. It's positively sparkling out there now. Probably the first time I've ever cleaned it properly since it was decorated about 23 years ago.Kitchen upbaord stink identified - three potatoes in a bag of new potatoes were rotting. I only bought them last week. Couldn't live with that smell on top of all the others so they're in the bin which will be emptied tomorrrow.Another stab at Nigella's coffee and walnut cake. This time the sponges are neatly tucked up in the freezer, space made by giving away two large chunks of bread to a neighbour. A large loaf of dough made in the breadmaker and then put into two tins to bake in the oven, this time successfully. I'll get te slicer out tomorrow to see how thinly I can slice them, which is what's needed. Good thing I've got a proper food thermometer because I baked them for 35 minutes at 180 which is 40 degrees lower than the instructions said, and for 15 minutes shorter. Perfect. I'm gtting there.Went to see Widow Clicquot this evening. Very strange watching a film about a French woman, and making champagne, in English. Rather good though.Better is good enough.6

Can't remember what was yesterday and what was today:
- one load washing done, dry outside and put away
- one load through DW
- various bits of gardening done including picking tomatoes and cucumber
- went to Mr T for a big shop as I was in the area
- drumming practice and lesson done
- more culling of emails and decluttering home office
- went to BodyJam. Ooh that's going to hurt tomorrow. I generally like any sort of dance-based class, but I'm not too enamoured by the music of this one but may persevere. It's very clubby/contemporary so lots of wriggling of the type that isn't easy at my age (let's face it, I've never been that wriggly........).
- finally got a phone call to Mum, after ringing reception to ask if they could check why her phone just went to voicemail; they took the land line over to her as they knew she was sitting nearby. Great to chat and she sounded pretty alert. I'd started writing a letter to her so will continue that anyway. Made me smile all day.
- constantly picking apples, freezer is full and we have some form of apple for pudding every day at present.
- Pilates done this morning
- various dailies done i.e. sink cleaning, bits tidied, washing up under control.
- sent ecard to SIL for her birthdayRemember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning all. Hope you're well today.
I'm up, showered, dressed, bed is made, washing in machine, condensation off windows, Poppet fed and I'm having first cuppa. Work shift shortly.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Morning all xx
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, sploshed bleach down the loo, packed my lunch bag, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, opened the curtains, eaten breakfast, supped a brew, completed Wordle in 3, completely failed on Connections (not even one line today!!! Lots of threes though).
I'll feed the birds and put out the rubbish and recycling before I set off.
My anxiety is through the roof. I woke several times in the night but got back to sleep again, then woke up at 6 and had to get up as I was doing myself no favours lying there building up to a panic. Better to be up and doing. Morning routine is exactly that: routine. Comfortable and comforting.
While I was taking my meds I looked out of the kitchen window and there was a robin on my shed roof. Sometimes see a robin on the front fence, never seen one at the back before. And breathe.... seeing a robin always makes me feel comforted. I'm not alone. Someone, somewhere, has my back. All shall be well. Or, if it isn't, I'll be given the strength to deal with it.
Have a good day.

Thank you Honey Bear6 -
@roundtuit I hope you get on ok with the car - I'm sure you will.@pigpen you can access Amazon, YouTube etc on your freezer?@Honey_Bear "Probably the first time I've ever cleaned it properly since it was decorated about 23 years ago." I saw myself that sentence I'm afraid.Have you tried Felicity Cloake's coffee and walnut cake? It's not bad. Do you have a bread slicer or is it a meat slicer that you used (I don't know if that's even possible). I prefer 'proper' bread but that is usually unsliced and I'm terrible at slicing bread. I always get one end thicker than the other and frequently end up with doorsteps when I want thinly, or fairly thinly, sliced bread. I have seen some devices on Amazon such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cutting-Adjustable-Foldable-Suitable-Homemade/dp/B07CZ1L3RW/ref=sr_1_7?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.JfGgYilqLGYz0HFbf8nvq8GjCJ-qRT9XmjS-MlH3emMCBObiKsi7uDq2HI_XjUJYrPfnaMW5fuRGY3tjHbv3BtL-3DLyIWhYuMKgsGOeGPcp_QN6MH6aNN1-Dv3JlCj8Flw8dlchGzbwdpJIjHLfAzaCJDVvImqzLnlej_69upFANC5yiU7PtafaDJB5x7w7mmQT4pHHxyaBoIZNOPTz2JpgEHPMPeRJ1Wu8MoNQVCPM9jHrTbneY0LiuIhzF1TXATUHnSPEk-FFuZowrkL8AlQtjD_PsQzBIgKgSzowQsM.Oj1ZHlUZs036BnkYaBqHJtwlJbFhdKT0Kjzh2GHxI54&dib_tag=se&keywords=bread+slicer&qid=1726219159&sr=8-7 (pigpen goes and checks the link on her freezer
) but the reviews of such devices seem a bit mixed.
I had an email from the Institut Français about that film as they are showing in their cinema. I wouldn't mind seeing it and A is very interested in the Vueve so I wonder if it can be viewed online - I shall check.@Narc0lepsy I'm very pleased your mum is happy in her care home - it must be such a weight off your mind.Flying: well surprisingly, for me, given that it's only half past ten, I've not done too badly. I went out just after 9 and had the car cleaned as a bird had left several unwelcome messages on it. I bought the paper on the way back then came back and collected some thank you cards I'd written to people to thank them for birthday presents and took them to the post. I came back again and stripped the bed and put the bedding on to wash. I then did some spot cleaning on the sitting room carpet. I also sent an online message to a car repair place as an error message is coming up on the car and I should like to get whatever is causing it sorted out. We're going for lunch to the friend who was recently in a care home for a few weeks whilst work was being done in her flat. It was getting her down, plus she'd hurt her back, so her daughter arranged for a few weeks' 'respite'. We visited her there and the place was absolutely lovely, although the restaurant service was not great. Anyway she's back now so we're having lunch in the restaurant of the retirement complex she lives in, which I have to say is usually very good. She's lived there for several years and has charmed them into doing things her way and always giving her a table she likes and so on so we will certainly get good service!

Afternoon all.
I got Wordle in 3 and then failed at Connections - like Valli, I recognised 2 categories but then only got one line before I ran out of lives.
This morning I have sorted my chairdrobe, then done and hung out WMx2 - DH had left a pack of tissues in his jeans pocket and somehow I missed it when checking before washing, so everything from the second load is covered with white "snow" and so is the lawn! Grrrr!!! I've also done my Spanish lesson, S&S'd the kitchen and bathroom, PUPA in the LR, re-potted two of this year's pelargoniums and 4 cuttings from them, chatted to L the dog walker (Rosie is going to meet her son's new puppy on Monday), rung one friend and tried but failed to get through to another, and updated my Toots list.
I'm now waiting for two deliveries, so in the meantime I'd best crack on with photo sorting. Soup and bread and cheese for lunch today, so that's easy. Must find something out of the freezer for tea - batch cooking and freezing the extra portions works well for us.
Will catch up with you all again later xxx
