  • :naughty: I expected better of you Idle- You asked Phil a question- now he will answer and we will go back on topic. Much better to just aimlessly disrupt :p

Normal disruption will continue after I've watched football
This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down
  • I don't think I am far wrong. There is a handful of managers job but I am sure 90 % of them will sit there for 20 plus years until they retire and so that removes all promotion.

I'll ask the question again. WHERE DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO GO?

There are a handful of managers jobs available in all companies. Just as there are a handful of suitable candidates should a position arise.

Phil, you have to make your opportunities. You cant just expect things to happen for you. If this is your attitude then you wont move on. There are opportunities to progress in every job.

Can I have pringles instead of cake please? :D

I think waiting your time is the only way to get promotion.

and again. Where do you expect managers to go? They have progressed up the ladder. When they reach the top what do you want them to do next?

Plus working hard and being a trustworthy and capable employee.

i DON'T KNOW where they should go, but it is a bit like climbing the ladder and pulling it after you.

Of course I do!!! Q knows everything.

Purple is because Jimi Hendrix sang about it (Purple Haze)

And cos there was a Deep Purple band.

And cos IT IS MY FAVE COLOUR! :j :j

Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • In the library world it seems you become a library assistant when you join and you are still one by the time you retire, sadly there is no career structure at all.
generally speaking the career structure is library assistant, senior library asistant, small branch library manager , large branch library manager then retirement. this applies to para-professionals. it's more complicated for librarians with a librarianship qualification.
this varies from sector to sector though.
seniority comes with age, experience and qualification.( or if you are friends with those higher up:rotfl:
    LLL
why are library assistants called - paraprofessionals?

because it takes two of them to do one librarians job!!
