Is there such a thing as Select for joint accounts? We put a fair bit through every month and have done for years but it remains a boggo 123-Lite. Faster CS would be appreciated for the inevitable next time Santander block outgoing payments and require a phonecall to sort out.
Our joint 123 account was Select. Well, it still is Select just not joint anymore.
Yes I have a joint account and Select was added to the header on the web page the actual account name doesn't change
It's a bit like getting a blue tick on Twitter/X - it means you're a Very Special Person.

Not at all. It used to be a valuable sign because Twitter had verified that you are who you say you are. Nowadays, however, it merely states that you are paying Elon Musk. Mind you, that could well mean you are a Very Special.....

Also, you are not paying Santander a penny for being Select.

So rather than posting on here, sort it out with them. We can't do anything.
The time on here could have been used to contact & sort it out with far less stress 🤷‍♀️
    Oh right very helpful comment.
    Not
    Oh well 🤷‍♀️

No idea what is not helpful about talking the the source of your issue 🤷‍♀️

But   please do update everyone once you get it resolved in case it happens to others 👍

It looks like Santander have stopped the 123 account.  Maybe "Select" is the closest account to the 123 that is better than the 123 ?
While they no longer offer the account. They are kept as legacy accounts for people that have them.
Would be very strange to just shift customers to another account without at least 90 days notice as per T/C.
Well they have just moved me.
    No notice absolutely nothing.
    And I noticed that the Select account is £5 a month & not £4 a month 😁😁

If the fee has increased to £5 it must be the Edge Up account
The only fee when you enter Santander Select  on line mentions a £4 fee but as the actual account is no longer available for new customers

Select has been added to a Edge or Edge Up account
Have you actually been charged the fee yet?

No not they only changed the account a couple of days ago.

Just had an email definitely from Santander Bank saying that they have changed my 123 current account to a Select today.
Checked online & it is now a Select account.
I did NOT authorise this account change at all.
I do NOT meet the criteria for this account no way !!
Any ideas as to what is going on ??
    Santander chat are completely useless.
Anybody have an email address for a written complaint ??

You must have passed a large amount of money through the account to be upgraded to select.
As they have upgraded you I wouldn't worry about meeting the criteria
One of the benefits of having the Select account is you have a dedicated phone number which reduces the wait times should you need to call 24/7

    No I did not.
Only ever had £2000 - £3000 in the account.

I think the Twitter thing was meant to be a joke which you kinda picked up on later on

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • A comment about the monthly fee for the Select account:

it used to be indeed £5 until somewhere in between 2021 and 2022 when it was reduced to £4 a month, I believe because they also changed the cashback  and/or interest percentage at the same time
