greyteam1959 said:Just had an email definitely from Santander Bank saying that they have changed my 123 current account to a Select today.
Checked online & it is now a Select account.
I did NOT authorise this account change at all.
I do NOT meet the criteria for this account no way !!
Any ideas as to what is going on ??
Santander chat are completely useless.
Anybody have an email address for a written complaint ??
You won't be able to complain via email as it is a unsecure method of contact & there is no way to verify you as a customer.
Or of course you could write to them via snail mail.Life in the slow lane0 -

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Would be very strange to just shift customers to another account without at least 90 days notice as per T/C.
No notice absolutely nothing.
And I noticed that the Select account is £5 a month & not £4 a month 😁😁

Any monthly fee you pay now will remain unchanged as well the type of current amount you have.
Santander will have moved you to their Select service which is a free add-on and basically means you qualify for slightly better trained staff when you call them.

Don't worry about meeting any qualification criteria. They have just decided to upgrade you based on your account usage.

You still have a 123 account, but you now also have Select status. You can phone the Select customer services line if you wish, or phone the standard line if you don't wish. You can draw more money from an ATM if you wish, or not if you don't wish. You can also take advantage of some lovely Santander products if you wish, or not if you don't wish. Santander's criteria for Select status are true in fiction only. Ditto for Private status.

The time on here could have been used to contact & sort it out with far less stress 🤷♀️Life in the slow lane2 -

One benefit is you can call them now to have a rant at them, before upgrade you would have had to wait till the morning.

As they have upgraded you I wouldn't worry about meeting the criteria
One of the benefits of having the Select account is you have a dedicated phone number which reduces the wait times should you need to call 24/7
