Thanks for all of the help.
Is ths best course of action just to explain the situation? I don't want to come across as unreasonable - I'm aware it isn't a large quantity of money, my feeling is just that, regardless of the amount, it is still a very short period of time.2 -
There is an old saying that you should pay more for shoes and a bed as you are in one or the other for most of your life.1

I'll go down this afternoon and see what they say.
I'm assuming at this point it's just best to ask for the refund?0 -

But there's nothing to stop you asking for a refund - they might be quite happy to do that (as they did before) rather than replace or repair...
*If SZ had replaced the original pair rather than refunding you from the outset, and the replacement pair had failed again, you would be entitled to a refund straightaway. But that isn't what happened here.1 -
No problem, thanks for the help.
I'll let you know the outcome.0 -
I went down to the shop and was rudely told it was my fault because "you must have had them on constantly", "we don't offer any guarantees" and "it's the way you've worn them". I confirmed that they were not prepared to offer me a refund or replacement. I said I was pretty sure she was wrong about it and said about contacting customer service regarding it, she said that was "my choice" and pushed the bag back toward me.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks so much for all of the advice and kindness shown on this forum, it was certainly the opposite in this experience.0 -

Contact customer services like you said you was going to do.

Obviously shoes are meant to be worn and should last significantly longer than 50 odd days...1 -
I rang customer services. They said to send them photos of the product and they'll be in touch.
What a carry on over some shoes! Thanks!0 -

"you must have had them on constantly" - they're shoes, what did they expect you to do with them? Display them on a shelf?
"it's the way you've worn them" - How, precisely, does one wear shoes incorrectly?
