    Hi all,

Update on this and any more advice would be appreciated. The replacement shoes have now encountered the same problem, admittedly it has been a longer period this time - we are beyond 30 days (56 by my count). Would this count as a reasonable amount of time or not?

I must add, I dont have an issue with purchasing more shoes, I'm aware that if you buy cheap your expectations cannot be high, but at the same time, I'm curious about my rights in the matter.

    Thanks.
By no stretch of the imagination is 56 a reasonable amount of time for shoes to wear out under normal use.

Further to my earlier post this morning, presumably these are replacement shoes provided by Shoezone free of charge after the original shoes failed?   (You never came back with the outcome)

These aren't replacements you have bought?

That's exactly my point! I usually walk for around an hour a day, plus any general errands. That's it. Cheap shoes or not, I don't think they should wear this quickly.

Thanks for the additional information.  I think there must be a manufacturing fault if 2 pairs of the same shoe wear out that quickly.  I assumed the OP must be on their feet all day, every day, and even then I would expect a pair of shoes to last longer than that.

Surely that depends on the product. An £8 pair of shoes isn't going to last long.

Should still last longer than 56 days.

The original shoes were £10, the slightly better replacement ones were £15, so I paid the extra £5 I hope of a better outcome (which, admittedly, it was). I know it may seem petty to quibble over such a small amount, but it's the principle.

I didn't expect these shoes to last a decade, it just seems like a very short period before they've eroded (holes in the bottom, unwearable, like the last ones).

    I don't understand.

Did Shoezone replace the original faulty shoes or did you buy a replacement pair?

(It might be that you mean that SZ offered to replace the originals for free, and that you then offered to pay £5 to upgrade to a £15 pair, but it's not clear.)

    Sorry.

Instead of getting a refund for the £10 pair, I got a "better" pair priced at £15, so I had to pay the £5 extra.

    OK.

So instead of SZ giving you a replacement pair of shoes, they refunded you the purchase price of £10 and you then bought a second pair of more expensive shoes for £15 about 56 days ago.

    Is that right?

As the shoes have failed within 6 months the burden is on SZ to show that the shoes were of satisfactory quality when you bought them.  They are entitled to one attempt either to repair or to replace the shoes, but if that attempt fails you can demand a refund.

If SZ want to give you a refund straightaway you might want just to accept it and go and get shoes elsewhere...

    That's right, yeah.

Thanks for all of the help.

Is ths best course of action just to explain the situation? I don't want to come across as unreasonable - I'm aware it isn't a large quantity of money, my feeling is just that, regardless of the amount, it is still a very short period of time.
