I was a keen cyclist but didn’t get back into it after lockdown. I’m thinking that getting a quality bike will give me a kick up the proverbial- a quality bike is about 4k I’d say.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

It’s worth looking into but I’ve actually found one for £2,300 down from £4,000 so I would say that’s a bargain.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

I’ve started 2025 in a positive way by taking on more debt. I’ve bought a phone from Currys. It was £449 and is on a buy now pay later scheme - I’ve got until 1st January 2026 to pay it off. I do have the money to cover it but I might as well save a bit more towards it, bank a bit of interest then pay it off in December.I have two New Year’s resolutions - more cycling and to take football less seriously. I broke that one on New Year’s Day.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

I didn’t realise it had been over four weeks since my last post - I’m sure forum members are on tenterhooks!!
Christmas period was spendy but not excessive. Managed to do everything I wanted and still have a decent amount left over to put in the EF and overpay on the mortgage. It’s pay day today so I’ve paid into the EF and that now stands at £910. I had to dip into the EF just after the new year as I had problem with my gutter (only £80) so feels good to start getting back towards four figures.
I am still toying with the idea of getting a new bike but I won’t give it any serious consideration until after Easter.

I had a windfall this week - found a five pound note in the gutter while out litter picking! I spent it on a pint though which I think I deserved as I was out there for over three hours. Unfortunately, despite my efforts the streets in my “patch” don’t even stay clean for 24 hours.Pay day on Thursday. EF is now up to £830 so should break the £1,000 barrier next month.Current scores:-

Well done on your progress so far!!
well done on finding the fiver too. I litter pick locally and there’s one girl who always finds money. It goes in the ‘wages’ purse and pays for coffees when we’ve finished 😂
I second Metallica if i could only listen to 1 band for the rest of my life. I first saw them when I was 14 and I was recently horrified to realise that in September that will be 40 years ago 😮. I was hoping to get tickets to see them at the gig with Sabbath in the summer but it wasn’t to be ☹️28/12/24

I looked at the Sabbath gig but whilst I would have LOVED to go, I usually.budget for 1 big gig a year and we've got Iron Maiden tickets the week after. £250 would have been really pushing it though (especially as my kids now insist on coming along) - Wasn't that much per ticket for AC/DC last year.I was disappointed but secretly quite pleased. The tickets were expensive. I think the cheapest tickets were about £200 each and there’s 3 of us so my holiday/gig budget couldn't have sustained that, as we’ve already booked Limp Bizkit in March and Nine Inch Nails in June.Iron Maiden was the 2nd band ever saw, 39 years ago. I think the ticket was £7 then 😂28/12/24
