Pay day today - two days early as it falls on a weekend this month. CC1 had £150 on it - now cleared.Current state of play:-
CC1 - £0
CC2 - £976
Loan - £1,540
i thought CC2 was interest free until July 2025, but it’s actually 23rd October 2025, so the aim is to have it paid off by 20th October which means a monthly payment of £82. I should be able to do that and stick a minimum of £50 into the EF.
Decent progress I feel.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

Have you looked online to see what they are offering it to new people at? Maybe just do live chat with virgin and say it's not affordable if you don't want to threaten to cancel. Any discount is better than none and money in your pocket rather than theirs.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200
*Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
*Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00
Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00
Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
*Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*
Savings
*Savings Buffer - £100/£1500
*Emergency Fund - £1500/£1500

I did try that with them before when my mate signed up with them and they gave him a 32” TV. Tough was pretty much the answer.
I think I’m just slightly nervous about playing hard ball with them as I don’t have a BT line so I can’t go anywhere else.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

A lot of companies don’t use bt lines now so are you sure you can’t go elsewhere? Have you checked what’s available in your area on a site like Fibre Heroes?MFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

Also you can give them notice to cancel IF they don’t offer you a better deal and change your mind in that period if you need toMFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

I’ve given Virgin notice to cancel so I have 30 days as of 1st November so I will see what happens. Hope I don’t have to go back to them with my tail between my legs on 30th November 😂.
Once this has been sorted I will post an updated SOA. I am going to pay the minimum on my credit card then put the difference required to clear it - about £57 - into a savings pot. Might accrue 50p interest between now and October! My pay rise will so be effective as of the end of this month so another good reason for an updated SOA.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

use this time to see what to channels you actually watch; do you really watch them? Is it really needed?Same with landline, do you actually use it? If not you can now get just broadband
Did you check what other broadband providers are available in your area? We’ve just moved away and got a great deal on fast broadband with another supplierMFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

I gave Virgin notice and someone called me within 24hrs and when i explained I didn't want tv anymore and just broadband they offered me a great deal. But like someone said most companies don't require a BT line anymore so definitely look at what else is available in your area.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7200

I don’t use the landline at all ( who does these days?) but when I enquired about removing it previously, because the of the “discount bundle” I would save about a quid.I don’t watch a lot of channels really but BT Sports is part of the XL package and I watch a lot of football so I would be reluctant to lose that.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569

Virgin contacted me today and offered me faster broadband, XL TV plus Sky Sports for £90 so I’ve said I’ll think about it. I’m minded to accept as fifteen quid saving plus Sky Sports seems like a good deal to me.In keeping with the diary title, not much else to report on the financial front.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569
