Nationwide App Changes allow them to monitor your device and apps

Android certainly can, but support and meaning is hardware dependent.Grumpy_chap said:
Can phone screens actually detect the level of pressure the operator is applying when using the screen functions?MeteredOut said:
They might also do checks such as monitor the "normal" pressure the customers uses when using the banking app, and if that changes substantially, challenge the customer for additional authentication before allowing any funds transfers.
I always thought that was a binary - touch / no touch - metric

Well they now know him as ‘That shouty bloke’. He was trying to pay his entry fee for a race, at the starting line.electriccactus said:
Sounds like KYC checks. Perhaps he'd never done them or they'd decided his previous ones needed refreshing. Doesn't sound like anything new.Sarahspangles said:OH was trying to make a small bank transfer yesterday using the Nationwide app on his mobile. He says it asked him to provide lots of additional information such as the source of income for each of his savings accounts, so that he eventually gave up, and messaged me (at home) to ask me to do the transaction. He rang them and complained this morning. So something is being rolled out.Fashion on the Ration

I made a similar experience with NatWest earlier this year. They would not let me log into Online banking on my windows laptop because I had a piece of SW which they wouldn't name but said it posed a security risk and therefore they couldn't allow me to log in. I eventually figured out it was NordVPN as this was the only program I had recently added. Even with the VPN disabled, I could not log into Natwest Online banking, however, not in Chrome, Edge or FF. I ended up uninstalling NordVPN, rebooted, and everything worked fine.Bizarrely, I was always able using the NatWest app on my iPhone, even with NordVPN actively running on the iPhone and connected to a non-UK server.I also encountered issues with the Coventry app on the iPhone. It wouldn't let me log in when NordVPN was present, active or not, on the iPhone. Coventry wouldn't even give a hint, just made it look as if their app wasn't working.
I don't have a problem if access to my accounts is barred because they detect a piece of software that they consider a potential security issue. However, they need to find a way to discretely tell me what the offending piece of software is.2 -
I've never had an issue with Nordvpn on the Natwest site.

Remind him that the person at the other end of the phone in customer services is just doing their job. Companies are known for dispensing with customers who become abusive.Sarahspangles said:

The big question is, did the rage make him run faster?1

It seems rather advanced for NationWest given how hopelessly old fashioned they are with everything.1

If banks think they will dictate which apps
i have on my phone they are mistaken. I understand if you have a dodgy app,
but a legit VPN is nothing to do with them.0 -
They're not dictating what apps you can have on your phone. They are dictating whether you can use their app whilst you have other specific apps on their phone.Theleak250 said:If banks think they will dictate which apps
