Partner coughing when upstairs

This is a bit of a strange one.
she doesn’t cough at all through the day, out walking (it isn’t hay fever), downstairs or in the garden.
then when we go upstairs for bed, she coughs again.
any ideas? There’s no standing water in any of the plug holes, shower is run through 3 times a day and the house is cleaned every day.
Confused…
My partner always wakes in the morning and has a few bouts of coughing within first few minutes, and it’ll continue on and off while upstairs.
she isn’t ill or poorly, is fit and healthy. It’s definitely something upstairs.

Could it be an allergic reaction ?
E.g. feather bedding etc.
Perhaps she needs a diagnostic consultation/ allergy test to help find the cause of the symptoms ?0 -
You could try opening all the upstairs windows and getting plenty of fresh air circulating.0

Does she ever lay down elsewhere? External triggers are the natural line of investigation but it could be possible it's triggered by laying down (unless she starts coughing in the evening upstairs before she's gone to bed, which would nix that idea).0

Yes, I was thinking allergy.Feathers, if there’s down bedding, Or dust - my bedroom is harder to clean and if I’m honest, I’ll probably do it less than downstairs so if the dust builds up under the bed that sets me off as well. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Have you taken damp readings upstairs to ensure that it's within the usual expected range? (You can buy gizmos on most e-commerce sites for under a tenner that show temperature and humidity) - it may be that there's nothing obvious showing - but if the damp levels are higher - it may trigger a cough as a reaction to something growing somewhere (It's not always obvious)

Im exactly the same and have been for years. When I first lie down in bed I have a coughing fit then it eases.
When I get up in the morning it starts again as soon as I sit up. I always sleep with the window open as I love the fresh air.
It takes a good 15mins or so before it stops completely and its often as if I have a streaming cold as well. In fact my husband often says 'Is it a proper cold or just your morning thing?. I dont put down to any kind of bedding as Ive tried all kinds but I sometimes think its the change in temperature that starts it off.
Its a bit of a nuisance but I just live with it.0 -
Have you moved furniture to check if there is any mould behind the furniture? That may trigger a cough. One of my family had it in a sneaky corner behind a wardrobe and it's not something you move regularly once in situ.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
