NST September 2024: A Turtle soap opera

Sunday was a family day at the football, and DS asked for tea from the kiosk which was fine because I’d forgotten to bring a carton of juice. I also ended up grabbing a coffee for my father-out-law too. NSD gone.Monday was a bit of a cooking disaster—I tried a new vegan mince for chilli, but it was awful! Neither OH nor I could stomach it, so I made a last-minute run to the shop for lasagne instead. Bye bye NSD.Today, I'll be back in the office for the sole purpose of going for some coffee and cake with a colleague who's about to go on maternity leave.Grateful for time spent with family over the weekend, the glorious sunshine that let us enjoy the garden, and the fact that I can still manage a forward roll—though cartwheels and handstands are beyond my capabilities now!Have a good day turtles xNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸7

I'm calling today NSD1! feeling more positive today. Exercise done, meditation done, morning pages and Spanish study more or less done. Called two agents about properties. Flagging a bit now though and still 2 hours of work left to go
. Grateful for housemate cooking for me, for free fruit at work, for people saying my hair looked nice so I can probably wait a bit longer to get it cut. Hugs to those who need them xx

Take charge of the Life Story
Minal’s school group posted a story of a classmate who had never been able to join her childhood mates for a weekend trip outside the city because of ‘pressing’ responsibilities in her home. It seemed that she was indispensable.
And then she suddenly passed away. But her home, husband, children and in-laws managed fine after a short period of adjustment. This episode shook Minal and she resonated with it deeply.
A friend, who was a counsellor, suggested that Minal (in her late forties) write her life story and predict how she would want it to pan out. As she penned her life in words, decade by decade, she became increasingly conscious of the monotony of her existence and how conditioned she had become to it.
She could not remember when she had last done something different, challenged herself, felt really excited and enthused, felt tinglingly alive. It was depressing to imagine the future following the same vein.
Even as a child she loved visiting butterfly and bird parks and had imagined becoming an ornithologist. Despite her abiding love for them, they had been relegated to a neglected corner of her life.
And the years were ticking away. No, she could not let her life get lost in a moribund state, with no cheer. She needed to take charge of her life story and she did.

Today I am grateful for getting to the gym, for finding what I needed in Liddle, for Pip getting a thumbs up from the dentist, for a couple of hours of work getting me out of the house, for my poo test result being negative, for the happiness I get from sitting in the new kitchen.

Well I'm officially a hoarder (and anti-social?). There has been a complaint about my rubbish, specifically the mattress. I've been given a warning notice and have a fortnight to fix it. The man was lovely. I invited him in and he's going to try to get me some help with sorting the house out. Once again the verdict is that the house is unsafe for me, there is no clear pathway around it. So will phone waste wizards tomorrow and see when they can come. DS3 is still reluctant to part with the wardrobes so I've given him the job of getting the cube shelves out from under the stairs.
I've put in a repeat prescription request, booked my flu jab. I was going to phone the bank's fraud department (they are going to refund me nearly £2000 for money that was taken from my bank account in July but I have to tot up the August transactions and report those. Couldn't find the pinsentry machine (there are 2 in this corner somewhere). I've reduced 3 notebooks to 3 pieces of paper. 6 bags went out to the bins yesterday (+ 2 from the midnight pixies I thinK) and the paper, rubbish and cans and bottles bags for today are filling rapidly. I have another set upstairs but my knees are hurting too much to bring them down now. About 4 bags worth of books to go to the cs (I'm looking for a bag with a big file in and keep unearthing part filled bags of books). Waste wizards will be much cheaper than the standard fine and it's what I was working up to anyway,
I'm choosing to be amused by the neighbours (DS3 and I differ on which one reported us) rather than annoyed. Rats ate the upholstery on one neighbours car so maybe them leaving the car in the backs is a hazard and the other pair own the largest heaviest bit of rubbish which has been in the backs for the longest time (a 2' wide circle of concrete which either held their garden umbrella or rotary washing line)
Apart from being totally knackered I've made good progress.
Grateful for progress, helpful Council officials and bin bags.9 -
A new to me yoga routine today. Work went well, but just heard my work bestie has tested +, so pleased I'm wearing my mask at work.
Headed to town after work, picked up a couple of bits at L1DL, including my free cake 😋 (though stunned at how much the prices of their own brand chocolate has gone up), bought some ribbon & headed to mum's. Had tea together, then j reknitted a cuff on my cardigan, using a size smaller needles & we watched more of a series together.
Grateful for making myself re-knit the cuffs (I'd only be cursing later if I didn't!), a good time with mum, a better afternoonUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Evening all.
Had a much more productive day today. Delivered some unwanted carrier bags to a friend who uses them for litter picking, delivered mum’s unneeded medication to pharmacy for disposal, picked up ordered library book, did a wash load and put on airer to dry and put rubbish and recycling out for collection tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow I will be out for half the day as meeting a work colleague for a coffee and a chat and then going out with a friend to a concert. In the morning I need to make some phone calls and sort through the clean clothes and dish them out to the relevant bedrooms.
Hope everyone is doing ok.

I usually make it all into pesto and freeze it, but freezer space is short.Get OH to help me pick the pears. Some are insect damaged, so these will need to be processed. I will not be wasting them!Make a frittata for dinner.NSD #2 for me - I am determined to keep count this month!Grateful for the energy to get some things done, and a nice sunny morning8 -
