Has anyone here had any real problems with Starling Bank, eg suddenly having account frozen?

Not personally, but if there has been suspicious activity then they are obliged to freeze the account and investigate. It is part of the regulations they have to adhere too.

They are not allowed to forewarn you, tell you why or how long an investigation is going to take.

Thanks for that. Just mulling over some options for a bank account to used as a feeder for regular savings.

Starling would be no different to any other bank as they all have to follow the same rules.

But what is suspicious activity to one bank might not be to another.

Interpretation of the same rules though.

Hear less of people complaining about frozen accounts from Starling that you do Revolut, Santander, Chase, Monzo and Lloyds but that may not be the true scale of it.

Most people never encounter issues with their bank freezing their account. Personal banking being very straightforward. Strange activity sticks out like a sore thumb as a consequence. Never stop people doing dumb things though.

As I said earlier, I’m just exploring various options for setting up a “feeder” account for regular savings accounts. Considering a current account that pays some interest so cash may be left there rather than transferring from another account. This option would be separate from the household current account and its many transactions and would make life easier. I should say that I’m deaf and do not use a phone, so I need easy lines of communication.

you could consider a Chase savings account for this purpose

As a general observation: No account, at any bank, saves you from the possibility of getting blocked for one reason or another

Yes, not that I’ve ever been blocked anyway. Just an observation.

    Thanks.

With Starling you can put money into spaces, so you can easily use one account for everything with things kept separate.
