Morning all. Yes, I'm here and (almost) raring to get going with much-needed flying
Am I the only one who has completed Wordle and Connections in record time and without losing any lives?
Glad to hear that round and YL are feeling better x x
Hope Lionel is on the mend x
May all the party people have a great day x x x
We had quite a restful time at DS2's; got home on Thursday in time for a late lunch (the M5 wasn't as bad that day as it had been on the way down), and in the evening I started baking for the refreshment station at church for the Glass Festival. I made 2 different vegan and 3 different GF cakes, plus the 3rd vegan first thing yesterday morning, as I was completely shattered by midnight on Thursday. Delivered them all to church at 10.00, then sat and chatted to my friends who had volunteered to run the café. Unfortunately we don't have a glass display in church, apart from a lovely set of paperweights and a few examples of various types of cut glass, all loaned by members of the congregation, so I doubt that we shall have many visitors - especially in this wet weather, and with the church car park out of use because it has just been resurfaced! I can see several of my cakes returning to my freezer, untouched.
I slept for most of the afternoon and then did some family history research for one of the café friends who wants to know what her father-in-law did in WW2 when he was in Naval Intelligence. There's not much hope of my getting round the Official Secrets Act, but I have discovered which shore base he was posted to and a description of the type of missions carried out from there, as well as his birth registration in France, so that's not bad for an evening's entertainment.
Next week I must sort out the photos I promised to my cousin and DS2, and order some more 4-ring albums for my own collection. But today I have to try to clean all through - I can see a layer of dust in the LR; the kitchen floors haven't been hoovered since I spilt flour on them whilst baking (at the time, I cleared up the worst of it with the dustpan and brush, but some of it has spread into a corner); and my father's revolving bookcase is still in its packing case and blocking access to the wardrobe in my BR, so I need to remove a chair, move the c-o-d along by about 4", and make a proper space for it, even if it can't revolve there (there's no room for it in the LR). Rosie will need a walk at some time, but she refuses to go out while it's raining - fortunately it's due to stop by 4pm, and then sunshine is forecast.
I have already made a start by clearing my desk and sorting my spices - that's logical, isn't it?
Will report back later (or tomorrow!) xxx

Me again. I put the washing on the line as rain wasn't forecast till later then it poured down. It can stay there. Why DH couldn't try to get it in when he noticed the rain, I don't know!
Anyway dailies are now done, garden is tidied following the wind yesterday, Poppet has been walked and I've done various tidying of wardrobes, drawers and shelves in bedroom. There's still more to do but it can wait. I'm going to read for a while.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Good afternoon 😁
It is persisting down here! Washing can wait until tomorrow.
Wordle done in 6 (that is definitely an American spelling!) and connections done.
I have helped DSiL with choosing a new phone - I have been nagging her as her phone is 10 years old, but she is still paying the same amount - about £50pm!!! She is still dithering, but has said she will look on her laptop 🤦♀️
I am having a lazy day! I didn't do the parkrun as I didn't fancy getting soaked. DW is on, WULTD, wiped down kitchen surfaces. I am working my way through a hot-spot on the side table next to me. It is all my toot, so no-one else to blame! I have paid my annual ofsted fee (again! They reversed the last one!) so I can continue working for another year. I have replied to an enquiry that I found by chance in my junk emails 🤞 I will keep pottering with the admin/indoor jobs and hopefully I can get in the garden/allotment over the next few days.
I may even start the cot mobile.....
I hope everyone is resting, and that you are enjoying the wedding Valli. I hope you have better weather than here!!6 -
NN have asked me to put their chickens to bed at 8.15pm.
I've just frittered away 4 hours scrolling on my phone, playing solitaire, and watching random carp on the telly.
Time for a Round methinks
1. Set bowl of pots soaking
2. Sort washing into loads
3. Set first load swishing
4. Put out recycling
5. WUDUPA bowl of pots

This shouldn't be too hard to make, do you think? There is no way I can afford that price to buy!!

Final sitting room corner pictures decided on and hung. The we bought two new lamps from a shop on the Barbican which we didn't need but were both fabulous which have made an amazing difference to the room. We don't buy much for the house because we both inherited so much furniture from our parents to go along with what we both had when we met later in life, so splurging on two amazing lamps in one morning is quite something - we've been together for 31 years! And we supported a local craft emporium so that was very satisfying.Belovéd has planted out half a dozen plants he bought from as supermarket this week and they've given the front of the house a real lift. My geraniums and hanging lobelia haven't enjoyed life this summer so a lift was needed.Paper towels under pipes next but I'm having a rest before I tackle that. I am not looking forward to it.Better is good enough.7

Re-Etsy item - large embroidery hoop, ball of string, 11 felt flowers - yeah, it should be easy to make for less. The major charge is for the time involved making it hang right.9
