How to get rid of spiders?

Best method of getting rid of spiders is a decent small hand held vacuum cleaner. Ours has a clear perspex waste container so when you collect them you can watch them spinning around before you switch off. So....spot them, suck up with vac and empty outside. Job done.

Note: I think it's currently breeding season so if you spot one it's probably looking for a mate.

Spiders like clean houses so if you have them your house is probably to clean.
    Probably.

There's a whole planet that they can use. Even without going too far they are free and welcome to use the garden (where I wouldn't even dream to disturb them). At home spiders are not allowed !! It's not asking too much.

Nature to nature, home to owner.
Spiders are very particular about where they live......they like it clean, dry & warm, just like you do. You don't live in the garden and they don't want to either.

Capture them and release them outdoors somewhere.
Most indoor spiders will die outside sadly.

There was a spider in the bedroom the other day and I thought "ooh look at all the little flies he has for dinner" but then realised they were baby spiders, must have been about 30 of them, explains why when I hoover a spider out of the corner of a room another one has moved in by the next day!

It's the time of year. They come in about this time. Won't tell you why. But the spell doesn't last so hover them up and empty the bag outside.
    I use a glass and a postcard.

I was rescuing a mouse from a bath and it ran onto my neck and sat under my long hair. No one would take it off. Got to say I'd have second thoughts about trying to help one again.
But my friend gives them names which makes them more tollerable.

Everything that ‘everybody knows’ about spiders is wrong!

Not my words, but those of a professional entomologist with a lifetime interest in spiders.

I found his website with that provocative title to be very entertaining!

Another ‘glass & card’ household here.
In previous home we had resident spider in the downstairs loo. I called him Simon & used to leave the odd dead fly in the corner for him to eat. We suffered from annual plagues of cluster flies which I hated with a vengeance. Sadly Simon & his friends were no match for them.
I did have a horrendous spider experience though. Used to take my handbag upstairs to bed & left it open one night. In the dark I reached in for my phone & felt a strange tacky sensation.  Switched the light on & was horrified to find a really thick web seething with baby spiders. Those babies didn’t survive & handbag had to go.

Will occasionally bring spiders in with logs for the fire during the winter months. Cat sees them as tasty little treats to chase after. :)
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

...and a lot easier to deal with than the half-dead mice and birds they bring in themselves. :)

If they were Sparklemuffin spiders would you like them more?
They're vegetarian and dance, the size of a grain of rice but so pretty
