Claim Form from a court

Hi
Please can someone help me. I have received a claim form from a court regarding a Parking Charge that I received back in January. I have just recently had a bereavement in my family and feel my head is not working properly. I came across a thread here that had guidance around 'Acknowledgement of Service' but cannot find it now..
Some background:
In January, the keeper of the car received a ticket in the post. They were not the driver at the time and we didn't know anything about private companies then so the charge was transferred onto my name, as I was the driver. Since then they have been sending me letters to pay, threatening bailiff action etc. By this point, someone told me to ignore them as they were a private company, so I did!
Now I have received a Claim Form and the charge has gone up to £261 which I have no idea how I would pay. Now someone has told me not to ignore it and so I am all confused.
Should I respond back or ignore?
Basically the reason I got a ticket was because they said I was not parked in the bay markings properly. They also attached a picture. When looking at the picture, yes I am not in the marked bay properly but their markings were so faint, almost rubbed out and it was evening time, very dark. There were no others cars near me so I didn't even realise I wasn't in the bay properly! I also had three kids crying and arguing in the car so I didnt realise I hadn't parked properly and just wanted to get them out of the car. I was only in the shop a few minutes!
Please can someone help advise me?
Thank you

It's all answered in the second post of the Newbies/FAQ thread.2

Post a redacted picture of the claim form, obscuring your name and address and QR code on the left, plus obscure or cover the VRM in the POC on the left too, on the right redact or cover the reference number at the top, plus redact or cover the MCOL password much lower down as well
Leave the dates and claimant details showing, plus the figures in the boxes, but no private information
Study the second post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements, plus study the defence template thread, first two posts, again in announcements, by coupon mad
No response as yet, pictures first, then follow the subsequent advice1 -
Is it possible for you to send the link please? I do not know why I cannot find the thread. Certsin questions I have found, do not allow me to click on them..
Thank you0 -
Go back to this parking forum, the newbies sticky thread is right at the top, under the coloured banners
My advice would be, use a tablet or iPad or a Laptop or PC, do not use a phone2 -
Do not ignore.
but more importantly - DO NOT PAY.3 -
Hello and welcome.
What is the Issue Date on your Claim Form? Can you please show us a picture of the Particulars of Claim - with personal detail hidden of course.

My signature below tells everyone how to use the link at the top of the page, to navigate to page one in a split second. Once you know that, you will be able to hop around like we do and won't get lost trying to find threads again!
Of course you can't ignore a court claim form. But you won't be paying it either (not a penny).
Please answer all the questions above, once you have done the AOS as shown in the NEWBIES FAQS thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

This is the claim form I am not so tech savvy. It has taken me so long to get the picture here which has turned into a link0 -
With a Claim Issue Date of 31st July, you have until Monday 19th August to file an Acknowledgment of Service, but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 2nd September 2024 to file a Defence. That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.3 -
