ha ha..i am doing just the same with the plant mister bottle...
i bought a few elasticated skirts from primark etc dirt cheap, one size up from usual and wear them under my bump...also came up with a nifty idea, bought a black 'boob tube' top in large which i wear under my old vests, right down below my bra, which now ride way up my stomach, and over my waist band, kind of cummerbund (?!) style. means i can still wear all my favourite lovely tops without the fear of flashing flesh indecently.
i'm also keeping three bottles of evian in the freezer, so one can sit by me half melted but with a big block if ice in the centre to make the water icy cold, if i put one by my bed in the night it is still icy cold by morning which is amazing in this heatMembre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

a trick i found last year (since putting on weight i have really struggled in the summer, sweating a lot and having swollen feet and knees) is putting tiger balm behind the knees and rubbing it into my ankles, between toes, etc. it's supposed to be for aching muscles i think but it makes your skin feel icy cold after about 15 minutes. it's orange coloured and greasy but it's fantastic as a quick fix when you feel like a sausage about to burst!!52% tight0

i was a size 10-12 then i got PCOS and suddenly over the 6 months before my wedding i gained nearly 4 stone despite going to the gym and went up to a size 20. this was when my first child was 5 so it was nothing to do with my previous pregnancy, i was never big with that anyway. diet and exercise help me feel more energetic since getting big but nothing loses any of the weight. i know what people mean about strangers touching your belly and asking when you're due - they did that to me when i first put on weight and i wasn't actually pregnant, that was horrible lol!!
I know exactly what you mean. I was a 10/12 when I married in 2001. Came off the pill and found out I had PCOS. Now size 18 (occasionally a 16). I have been asked quite a few times if I am pregnant. Just turn round and tell them nope just fat thank you. they are mortified when they realise. LOLGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
I'm 34 weeks (how strange it seems to be saying that
) and have bought just about the whole of the mat dept in H&M. I don't know what I would have done without that shop. They have a really nice cheescloth dress in there for £20, which is really flattering. I would have bought one today if they had my size in black.
I'm all bump too. I've bought a few pairs of 'trackie' trousers from Matalan, but couldn't just wear bigger normal clothes.0 -
Mothercare have started a sale in the last few days, loads of clothes are in there and they seem to be summer ones0

I'm 34 weeks too - went to H&M last week and thought their maternity stuff was great, and very cheap. Not so sure about the Next stuff I ordered - I sent it all back as seemed poor quality and I was convinced that some of their "pure cotton" was actually part synthetic.
Still doing the commute to the City on the Tube - thought after baby one born during the heatwave in 03 I would have learned my lesson!0 -
ebay, boot sales, local paper.
Also, primark etc. cheap shops for LARGE elastic waisted skirts and shorts, with baggy t shirts and shirts.
Best way to keep cool, park herself in a paddling pool and stay there.
During the day, it seem scooler upstairs (if in a house), so naked on top pf the bed with all the windows open.
Failing all of the above, get yourself a v large feather or leaf and fan her....mmmmmm, lovely.
Congrats and good luck, enjoy it all.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
I remember what it was like to be pregnant in horrendous heat...summer 2003 was a scorcher!
I told everyone at the begining of the year it would be one of the hottest summers on record because I was pregnant, and I was sooo right. Mia was born in the september that year and I spent most of my days in nothing but my knickers and a t-shirt stood infront of a large fan!! I hated summer that year but it didn't do her any harm, she weighed in at 9lb 5 and half oz.
I found that if I did have to venture out, (when I could get my flip flops on that is!) I wore strappy vests with the bust support so I could go without a bra because they can get so uncomfortable in the heat, and my husbands XL shorts. They had great dresses in H&M's too at reasonable prices. Failing that, try to buy loose fitting dresses 2 sizes bigger than you are.

Just been in QS who have a new range of sun dresses in, gathered elasticated bust (as is the fashion at the mo) & a stretch fabric dress part in white, turquoise or a rather lurid pink, a size 12 fitted over my large 35 week bump and only £10 each, should shrink back to shape to fit after the birth too hopefully;)
