Just spent an hour or so trying to find somewhere to purchase COTTON or LINEN 'summer' or summer looking dresses!!!
Can anybody help before the poor thing melts?

I've just seen a post in "shop but don't drop" that Next maternity has 15% off and free P&P dont know if they have what you want though. You could also try Blooming Marvelous website.0

Try ebay or the classifieds in the local paper. I bought most of my maternity wear second hand as I thought high street prices were expensive. Here I go again on my own....0

Hi, I'm the one who posted the the NEXT maternity offer in Shop But Don't Drop...unfortunately the special 15% off is for advance orders of their autumn/winter range, which won't be delivered until august, so no good for you now.
I'm 28 weeks pregnant & I totally sympathise with your wife...I nearly died in the heat yesterday, and I can't sleep now because of it, hence being on here at this unearthly hour! I have been wearing trousers all through my pregnancy but luckily I had bought a NEXT maternity skirt & sundress on Ebay a few weeks ago in case of hot weather, and the dress arrived yesterday...boy, was I glad!
Ebay is definitely good for maternity stuff...though if you want something ASAP then maybe not ideal as you may have to wait a few days for the auction to finish & then rely on the seller to post quickly.
I don't think NEXT have any dresses in their maternity range at the moment, but they do have a couple of skirts that might do....if they don't stock them in your local shop you can order online & they deliver within 48 hours if the item is in stock. Delivery is normally £3.50, but there are some codes for free delivery in the 'online & offline vouchers' forum....you need to look back a few pages for them.

Mothercare also have some dresses, including a strappy sundress. Again, if they're not in your local shop you can order on line, but they might take a little longer than NEXT to arrive. If you use code MFP, you can also get free delivery (that code was in the mothercare magazine).

JojoMamanBebe also have some really nice, simple strappy dresses in their sale at the moment, (£19.99) and I see they are offering free P&P on all sale items. Look under the 'clearance sale maternity less than £30' section. I've bought sale stuff from them before & delivery has been within a week.

Finally, Buget Bumps might have something suitable & not too pricey, though it can be very hit & miss depending on your size & how much you care about your appearance! The things are second-hand, or graded 'as new' items, so they cost a lot less than the high steet price, but some things are not great on the style front. If you just want something for round the house though, might be OK...I've got the Dorothy Perkins tennis type dress from them & it's fine for lazing around in. P&P is free as well.

Can't think of anyone else at the moment, but hope that is some help. Congratulations on the pregnancy!0 -
Try the Nightingales site - https://www.nightingales.ltd.uk
http://www.nightingales.ltd.uk/searchresults.asp?gmt=dresses
there are several 'waist-skimming' dresses, modern and reasonably-priced.
I've bought a lot of my clothes from them and I'm several decades beyond the 'maternity wear' group! They're very flattering and easy-to-wear, much better than the usual stuff marketed for us wrinklies!
I think your wife would enjoy having a look, anyway.
BTW I sympathise with S@sha. My first baby was born in Cyprus in August 1961. The heat was something else. I spent all day jumping in and out of cold showers and like you, S@sha, the only time I could function at all was night time or very early mornings.
Best wishes

i'm 36 weeks pregnant and the heat was evil yesterday  i've been wearing maternity jeans but they're too hot. it was my sons birthday party in the alton towers hotel pool so i spent a few hours just wearing my swimming costume lol! i haven't seen any maternity dresses in my town (mothercare's the only place selling maternity clothes) but i'm comfortable in an elasticated skirt from evans a few sizes too big. i couldn't buy a dress in a larger size though because the armholes etc. would be larger so my bra would be on show. i tried some clothes from my sisters wardrobe, she's bigger than i am and only the skirts fitted, the dresses showed my entire bra, tops showed my bra straps, she wears them without a bra but she doesn't have pregnant breasts :rotfl:
so if you're desperate for something today you could try just buying an elasticated skirt from anywhere that's open? it may also be worth looking for proper maternity clothes though as it's going to be a hot summer and your wife will be pregnant throughout august. put the fan on and let her laze about all day52% tight0 -
Have you tried charity shops? My neighbour is pregnant and due to go on hols this week.I am bigger than her so shes borrowed some of my shorts but wanted a nice dress for the evenings. She got one for £3 from our local heart foundation shop. Also we have a secondhand baby clothes shop that sells maternity wear.
HTH:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I agree with all the above
Try pumpkin patch http://www.pumpkinpatch.co.uk/stores.htm I think from memory they do more in the stores than their website shows!
Vertbaudet https://www.vertbaudet.co.uk There is a very cool looking dress on page four of maternity clothes
http://www.redoute.co.uk/homepage.html
link direct to maternity is http://www.redoute.co.uk/redouteuk/sBoutique/1,1170,,00.html
Apparently Argos Additions sell them, although can't vouch for it myself
Also there is http://www.maternityexchange.co.uk/index.htm
Maternity Exchange are second hand and end of line, factory clearance. Don't be put off by the dreadful way they advertise their stock, if you are near either of their stores book an appointment and go and see them. Don't go with anything fixed in your mind, as the stock changes regularly. I remember when I was pregnant I went to them and wanted a top and came out with three factory clearance trousers, one skirt and one pair of second hand trousers (I never thought I would buy second hand, but these were lovely and were the ones that I wore more than any of the others!)
Don't forget Mothercare, H&M, and Mamas and Papas do quite nice ranges
Also there are some lovely tunics and elasticated gypsy skirts about in normal shops which are ideal for this weather.0
