Car insured to be parked on drive

Recently came back from holiday my vehicle was stolen whilst I was away.  My vehicle is usually parked on my drive I actually can't remember if I left it on the drive or if it was outside my property on the road right next to my drive I am now petrified the insurance are going to not pay me out because of this.  Can anyone give me any help on this I am literally petrified if I don't get this payout it will ruin me. Insured to be on my drive stolen from Street next to my drive. Yours truly petrified Steve

I don't think you will have a problem. All you need to be clear on is whether you answered the question "Where do you usually park you car?" correctly when you applied for the insurance.

You need to be honest with the insurers that you can't remember whether it was parked on your drive or the road when you went on holiday. CCTV footage may emerge at a later date, and you don't want to have said one it was definitely one thing when the footage shows another.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

I was 100% honest with my insurance and told them I fought it was on my drive but possibly on the road

Don’t think it’s down to where it was parked - as @tacpot12 has said you need to be honest with insurance company about where it’s ‘usually parked’ which would have formed the basis of your cover. If you said it was usually on the drive, but it was in the street, not sure if that impacts upon any claim? Happy to be corrected on this. Out of interest, why wasn’t it on the drive when you left home?
Someone I know has an expensive Mercedes suv and told his insurance co it was always parked in the garage which is in fact way too small for the car. Not sure how he would stand if it’s stolen off the driveway overnight?

Might be worth mentioning to your friend that it can sometimes be more expensive to insure a car that is parked in garage overnight compared to one parked on the drive.
    May be postcode dependent.

It will simply raise questions as to why it wasnt parked on the driveway if thats where it is usually parked and maybe further Qs to try and establish if it really is "usually" parked there or not.

The fact the OP doesn't remember suggests it isn't something that is too uncommon otherwise it'd stick in the memory that, for example, you have a skip on the driveway and hence temporarily needing to park on the road.

A former client did some analysis on theft at home claims where it was declared the car was usually garaged... about 20% of the customers didnt even have a garage let alone all those that the garage is too full of junk to be used to store a car.

Indeed. Usually is the key to this, plus the value of the claim may influence how closely they look into it.

You must however see that it looks really odd if the car is "usually" kept in the driveway but was left on the road while you are away on holiday!
