can you switch to a currently existing TSB account rather than open a new one?

    1. £100 Switch Incentive
To qualify for the £100 switch incentive you must do all of the following between 1 August 2024 and before the switch incentive is withdrawn by us:

    • Apply for a new TSB Spend & Save account or Spend & Save Plus account through tsb.co.uk, the TSB Mobile Banking App or in Branches.
Terms make it clear that you need to apply for a new account

No, not if it's been opened before 1st Aug

    incentive is withdrawn by us:

    • Submit a full switch request via tsb.co.uk or in branch to your new TSB Spend & Save account or Spend & Save Plus
account using the Current Account Switch Service. The switch must be initiated before the offer is withdrawn and
    completed within 21 days.
    • A full switch means all of your active credits and debits from your old account (not held with TSB) will be transferred
across automatically as part of the service and your old account will be closed.

    Let's Be Careful Out There
  • Do you have to initiate the switch as part of the opening or do it after the account had been opened?
Directly after you open the account, it asks if you want to switch in an account. So in effect, it is part of the opening process. Much easier to do online, as the form for the switch is not easy to manage on a small screen.

Would the paypal trick work for the debit card requirement for this?

i.e you link the debit card to your paypal, and send small amounts of money to another paypal account by friends and family, this is fee free but should count as a debit card transaction?

I know it worked for RBS regular saver top ups

Yep, so long as you make sure it's the TSB debit card which is charged (not the account/DD) although there's a risk that PayPal will get snotty about it if you do 120 of them over a 6 month period.

Works perfectly for me for 1.5 years, 20 debit card transactions each month to my OH's PayPal, each transaction is £0.01. Makes my husband laugh every time when his PayPal starts sending him messages 'You have just received a £0.01 payment from your wife  :D

so, you need 5 debit card payments by 27th Sept to qualify for the £100 and then 20 for the £15 cashback. Am  i right in assuming the 5 and the 20 will be separate and cannot be double counted? i.e. i will need 25 debit payments in the first month or 2.

There's no 'counters' which get 'used up' - they'll do a search to ensure 5 debit card transactions happened, and a separate search to make sure 20 debit cards have happened. If you have at least 20 txns it must be true that you have at least 5.
