Sadly I have spent today and I really didn't need to FAILURE ALERT!! Scratch cards winning very little they are such a waste of money I think I am going to get some luck but it never happens, I won't buy them again, there a fools game, Honestly! 😪😪😪
Scatchcards are such a waste of money! What I find particularly concerning is the way they normalise gambling, and the business model that focuses its advertising on less-affluent people and communities with the lure of getting rich quickly.
Luck doesn't come into it. Winning is entirely random and there's no skill involved. The lottery company knows exactly how many tickets they need to sell to cover the costs of the prizes on offer- while making a decent profit for themselves.

Scratch cards- like all forms of gambling- can be dangerously addictive. If you lose, there's the temptation to try again in an attempt to win back some of the money you've lost. If you win, there's the urge to buy other cards as "It's my lucky day!" It rarely ends well.

If you have money to "gamble" away, you could consider shares. You can put in as little or as much as you wish, and choose your level of risk. Again, if you go for a very high-risk investment this can mean that you lose all your money, so don't risk anything you can't afford to lose.

If you want a safe way to "throw away" money, there's always a regular savings account! No risk, you can put in as much or as little as you like and- here's the best bit- you can get all your money back at any time PLUS get a bit extra as interest.
Your bank or building society will have all the details.
If you get their app, you can put in a pound or two a week. You'd be surprised how quickly it all adds up
     😊

Edit- if you're on certain benefits, there is a fantastic high-interest account specifically aimed at encouraging people to save little and often.

Do you have a credit union near you? If so, see if they do the Christmas Savings Scheme. Like a bank savings account, you can put in as little or as much as you want, when you want and take it all out to spend as you wish. But the best thing is that they have all sorts of prizes and incentives- everything from free piggy money boxes, cinema tickets, store gift cards and even holidays. And you get interest!
Your money is safe- and it's so much more rewarding than a scratch card!
You don't have to have money worries or be on any sort of benefit to use a credit union. It's available for everyone.

Quite right @Worlds_Worst_Superhero I am a foolish fool! I like premium bonds as I am in a competition to win but don' t have to lose cash at the same time, out of work I really can't afford to fritter money away, that was very good advice, I am a fool.
  • @HotDog2020 You're not a fool! Gambling companies spend small fortunes employing teams of experts in psychology to ensure their advertising and marketing gets as many people as possible booked.

Consider it as a learning experience and promise yourself you'll never do it again!

Use you money to make you happy, don't risk throwing it away on something that could leave you feeling sad or disappointed.

What hobbies or interests do you have that make you happy and bring you joy? If you spend your time focussing on those, you're guaranteed the sort of jackpot that money can't buy 😊
