Morning all
Guilty as charged - I could have sworn that I posted yesterday morning…
Ah well, as it happened, it was a day of - ahem - “minimal” flying. I spent a couple of hours by myself at the allotment, coming home with my best crop yet of sugar snaps, plus more new potatoes, the first French beans and some purple kale. That is all shoved (literally) into the fridge, and needs some thought / attention later today. I spent the afternoon weeding the veg trugs in the garden, which are more weed than salads. They look better, if very empty, now. Apart from one load of washing, assembling a dinner and running the dw, no flying passed my hands. The excitement of the evening (if you can call it that, I certainly didn’t, being the world’s biggest scaredy cat of all things that fly) was another bat letting itself in and taking up residence in the bath. Luckily DD saw it in there, and even more luckily, DH was on hand to release it outdoors. I knew that I kept him for some reason, and that is it - this is the second bat incident in 2 years. They seem to get confused on their flight path and swoop in through DD’s window. Shudder. Guess what I dreamt about all night.
Today just may look similar, excluding bats, of course. I have a list which I’m considering ignoring. DD is driving to the uni city later so I will be on tenterhooks until she is there then again until she gets home safely later tomorrow. I have a load of trousers and jeans to run through the wm, but will wait until I get back from the allotment so that my grubby gear can go in too.Stay cool and hydrated, people. It’s already twot for flyers out there, imho x6 -

Good morning 😁
Well done Fayolle re the allotment & gardening. I didn't get to mine 😕 DH & DS were recording, and DS was waiting for a delivery 🙄 I did potter in the garden (a tiny bit), and repot an aeonium that was falling over and the pineapple that had died back - I now have 5 new pineapple plants - hopefully they all take 🤞 I didn't get around to watering though, so I need to do that now before it really heats up!
Washing is nearly up to date & I did some knitting. Apart from that, not much else! I did manage to order the cot & mattress from the big yellow store (10% off with the family card 👍), and a new moses basket mattress & sheets to keep here for when DGD visits 😊 - it is getting close!! 😬 Baby shower is next weekend!
Jobs for today.....all of it!! I may need to break that down a bit....🤔

Quite a job you have there @Goodintentions !I went to the 8.30 so was up betimes (by my standards). One of A's cousins and her husband are coming for lunch so I S&S'd in the bathroom and vacc'd and tidied around. Everything was fairly ok anyway so it didn't take long. The linen table cloth we only use when we have guests had been ironed by the laundry but when I got it out they had made a terrible job if it so I had to put a blanket on the dining table and the cloth on top and iron it again; it looks fine now but I shall ask for a refund.I then prepped the veg and sautéed some leeks with thyme and garlic as a base for the sauce which will go with the guinea fowl breasts. I helped A lay the table and now we are just waiting for our guests to arrive before I can do anything else. It's a lovely warm and sunny day here today (although will probably be too hot for me later). Hope everyone has a good day.

Right.. you have me for 10 minutes while I slurp a cuppa. I hope everyone and their collective fam and fronds are ok.. everyone is healing, painfree, stressfree and hunky-dory.. or just hunky.. or chunky... whatever fits.DW on.. I have oven trays to run through next.2x laundry loads out and smalls in the TD
Pump replaced on water feature in the garden.. cats, squizzles and dickyburbs now have liquid sustenance.
Water bowls out front filled with water and ice for doggies, moggies, froggies, burbs, rodents, vermin and foxy-loxies.. and the local drunks if they so desire.. I have 2 out there and just top them up a few times a day.
Squeak has summer school this coming week. We have a date for her ADHD assessment.. 6th August.Dot is smelly and refusng to do anything.. including brushing her hair and bathing.. I hold devices to ransom.. never fails but makes a lot of noise. She was very well behaved at dentist.. I said to her if she opens her mouth and lets the dentist lok we will be out in no time.. and she did.. easiest trip ever with her.
Pixie.. we are struggling to find schoolwear which fits her insanely long legs.. 26 inch waist but she needs 24 inch skirts just to reach her knees! .. 18 or 20 is the norm but they are way too short for school.. and to make things harder she wants full pleats, not dropped waist and they have to be black. I need to order school shoes and trainers for everyone and she needs a new bag.. hers was £8 off Temoo after easter and hasn't lasted as expected.. but it did the last term which was all I needed it to do.
Twinkle missed the last day of her summer school because she has a poorly tummy.
OH is still loving his job and has 4 regular gardening customers so is doing ok and never home but is loving it so who am I to complain? So long as he is happy that's what matters.. he does however now look like he descends from the middle east and I am still blue and transparent.. the girls are all hotdog colour.
I bought OH the new World of Warcraft expansion for his birthday so he is a happy bunny.
8 binbags of rubbish have been ousted from the hovel and the toys are in the summer house.. there are more in the bedroom when I get time to sort those.
I want to change my bed sheets.. my side is fine but OH's side stinks.
Oh.. and my earrings have broken!!!! I am very sad.. I have only had them 14 years and one snapped in half.. now I need to find new ones and it is traumatic. You'd think they'd last longer!! (14k white gold hinged diamond cut hoops £85 in 2010.. they were the only ones in the shop round the corner I liked and I couldn't find mine from when I took them out when Squeak was born)
Big child run down.. DS1 bought a takeaway and finally has a reason to get up in morning and live well. DD1 is doing much better and survived her first year without the lazy lump of lard who had loose elastic! DS2 is being helpful with summer schools runs. DD2 and partner after talking about moving back to Wales in September.. I will believe it when I see it. Boog has named me as the go-to contact for job centre and all things medical and I now have to sort his PIP forms since the guy from the job centre who did the home visit said I must! .. nothing better to do and all that. DD3 is healing well after her ganglion surgery and I am trying to persuade her to get even a small job. Moomin is loving her pharmacy apprenticeship... but she needs a laptop/pc. Tiddles is bored doing her art college stuff so we shall see.
Step-da has no got a return of the evil C.. BUT the idiot surgeon who did his stoma (badly) has fluffed up and stomach juices are oozing into his abdominal cavity so he is at high risk of peritonitis.. he is back to hospital on the 15th. My mother has another chest infection/flu thing.. she had pneumonia 18 months ago and hasn't been right since.. The cats are all moulting and 2 have decided turding by the front door in acceptable.. I am putting a motion sensor air freshener there in a minute.. I need to find batteries.. it usually puts them off in a very short time.. I need to wash the door mats too.
We have another mad busy week so I may not make it back until next Sunday.. keep well, do happy things and feel free to poke annoying people in the eye!
GI.. I have just moved 2 trofast units like those but in white into our summer house.. we appear to have had a squirrel trapped in ours at some point there is a lot of scratting on the window frames where it was trying to get out. I hate toys!.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)9 -
Cloth_of_Gold said:After lunch I made some meringues for tomorrow's lunch. I'd bought some pasteurised egg whites in a carton but although they whipped up reasonably well, once I added the sugar it turned into a sloppy mess. I thoroughly washed and dried the bowl and whisk again and started from scratch but the same thing happened. On the third attempt I used actual eggs, separated, and this time it worked. If you can't make meringue with the egg whites in a carton I don't see what the point of them is.I had the same experience with those egg whites a few years ago so why they don't say on the carton they're not suitable for meringue I don't know. Maybe it's just a way of selling the leftovers from a manufacturing process - if we all buy one carton once that's still a lot of egg whites sold, isn't it.Thoroughly enjoying the Olympics here too. It's the women's gymnastics for me, but Belovéd loves all sport so he's in heaven.Got up early and walked the dog before it got too hot this morning, put a load of washing on and have been lazing around ever since. This week's hot enough for me to wash the carpets which I haven't done for a few years so I need to be okay for that. Good excuse to take life a bit easier today.Have also written a couple of difficult emails which have been on my mind for a few days. Glad to get that Frog off my desk and mind.Better is good enough.6
