ionafan said:Morning all. On Monday and yesterday we enjoyed lunches out with two groups of friends: both involved long drives, but were very much worth it. Now all is back to 'normal' - whatever that is!
Today I have to declutter several loads of washing to do (including 2 or 3 pairs of DH's jeans while it's good drying weather), a physio appointment (but of course with the warm weather my shoulder is much better, and my knee is almost better) and Rosie's walk; tomorrow I only have to walk Rosie near DS's house so that I can water the pots by their front door and put their bin away (they went over to France yesterday evening); and on both Friday and Saturday I have a clear diary.
As well as keeping up with the dailies, I am hoping to make big inroads into the photo sorting. I cleared another under-the-bed storage box yesterday evening and found a few pre-1960 b/w negatives, but I appear to have reached the stage of having garnered all the loose prints, so the sorting should be reasonably straightforward now.
Narc0, if I could edit your last post, I would immediately remove the word 'only'. Both things you achieved yesterday are big frogs - very tiring for the brain and extremely time consuming, definitely not to be regarded in the same way as little errands. Please be kind to yourself xx
Glad the funeral went well, Valli x
Round, please be sure to add me to your itinerary. We are more-or-less straight down the M6/M5 from near asb, but you might want to do a slight detour en route to pick up Valli. If short_bird is fully recovered now and free to join us, she's only a few miles from me. Then we can go west to pick up Natty before we do the run down to Fayolle xxx
Glad to see you popping in Piggers. So glad you have light upstairs, there's nothing worse than a dark upstairs 😮 I have visions of you, Mr Piggers and all the little piglets going upstairs with candles like rip van winkle 😋
Narco well done on the multiple 🐸 👍
Iona warm weather you say? What, where? It's as grey as a grotty hankie here, muggy too and threatening rain 😕 I think we've had one lovely day so far in a week, or it's nice after 6pm, rest of it has been wet, windy and dreary...😕 I never thought I'd have wet washing on the heated airer when it's nearly August. 😮 I miss the south east, at least it would've got all my washing dried the majority of the time...lol
We have no hot water here today, well actually since yesterday. The immersion system blew up on me yesterday when I changed the fuses. Quite scary really especially as I was in the airing cupboard next to the timer controls at the time. Lovely blue arc...!!! DH didn't seem that bothered when I told him, his comment was "what do you want me to do about it?"
So we have someone coming out today to hopefully fix it, thank god's for Homeserve or something like that with our electricity 👍 Thankfully the shower is electric and a separate thing from the immersion heater, so can have a shower with hot water and use the rest of the electric in the house. Just have to boil up a big saucepan to wash up...lol I miss my gas boiler at times like this...lol
I have tidied up the kitchen, living room and cleared out the airing cupboard of towels and bedding that was in it. So now the engineer can climb in there and have a good route around...lol. Fingers crossed it can be fixed..🤞
Plan today is to potter hoovering etc. Clean the kitchen, putting things back and then wipe down the units.
I also need to get the air con unit up and running so we can see if it works properly before disposing of the box it came in. Although Brucie managed to chew the corner of the remote for it...blooming pup!!
Off for my third cuppa of the morning..and catch up on Classic Doctors before hoovering 👍

I felt so unwell yesterday I came home from work - somebody phoned up at work and for the life of me I couldn't understand what he wanted...then I felt slightly dizzy.
So..nothing's been done.
CoG - she'll be fine until the next 'event'...and I am so not good at coping with her...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hello all. Hope you're feeling better today Valli.
Yesterday was just work and dailies.
Today I have walked Poppet, done a work shift, done dailies, checked banking and cleared and cleaned tops of kitchen cupboards. DH is tall and has a habit of putting bits and pieces on top of the cupboards. Now I have a set of steps, haha. I also now have stuff to take to the tip and CS.....Spend less now, work less later.7 -
feeling much better, thanks

Glad you're feeling better Valli.Today I've been to the big M&S and Waitrose, washed and dried a load of towels and put fresh ones out, done a mini-clean in the bathroom and S&S ni the kitchen and vacc'd the hallway and sitting room. A friend left a message whilst I was out to say he'd been diagnosed with cancer. I rang him back and it's skin cancer; he wasn't totally surprised as he's always done a lot of sunbathing and always goes somewhere hot and sunny on holiday. . He's waiting for a CT scan to see if it's spread, so naturally he is worried.A friend has just rung the bell - he's coming for supper so I'll have to go.7

Keep breathing in and out Round my lovely x
So I have very low blood pressure, which can mimic anxiety and cause you to faint. Well who knew? I need to drink more and have yet more blood tests.
I have given my office a good hoover and tidy ready for working from home tomorrow. DH did his special veggie pasta thing for tea which was nice. Kitchen is tidy. DS2 has decisions to make about his job and I said I will meet up with him on Saturday so we can go for a long walk and chat things through. I fancy the coast. This may involve some driving but I can manage that.
Friday tomorrow thank goodness.7 -
I didn't know that low blood pressure could mimic anxiety but I did know that it can cause you to faint. Do you have your own machine to monitor it YL? It would be good to know what it is before you set off on a car journey. Our meal with W went well and it didn't involve any cooking, apart from boiling some jersey royals, which was good - just arranging things on the plates really. The JRs were very poor - almost no flavour at all. I was going to have the rest on Sunday when A's cousin and her husband come but I'm not so sure now. I de-cluttered some nougat to W; I bought it for A but he has now decided that after a lifetime of liking nougat he no longer does. I've never been very keen so I wouldn't eat it. I've done some of the washing up but need to finish it off.

YL that is interesting. Mum's latest hospital 'event' was all put down to fluctuations in bp; she's always been prone to low bp and has had dizziness etc but hadn't heard of it linked to anxiety before, however it fits in with that (mind you, so do other life events and ADHD).
I'm feeling fairly pleased with myself today:
- did a total blitz of the en suite, even washed down the doors which are panelled so get very dusty.
- 2nd care home rang for any follow-up questions and sent me a summary and some info.
- Mr N and I reviewed various tariffs as our gas/electric is nearly out of the fixed rate; chose and put change in place.
- ditto our internet which involved me ringing up to discuss; ick I've had to do lots of ringing lately. Anyway, accepted their offer of considerably faster broadband for only 50p/month more. It is noticeable already; I downloaded a few kindle books.
- Mr N swept and tidied the conservatory.
- an energy advisor came round and did various tests to see if we were eligible for or needed anything. We've always been baffled by how cold the house is, despite insulation, curtains etc. He agreed our loft insulation was fine (rather a surprise as we had spray foam which was heavily recommended but now apparently is being slated); however he did get high readings on damp on exterior walls. Of course he recommended a product - he'd already said that although a govt company, they had 'contacts' of recommended stuff - and has left us a price. We will have to do some research, currently I'm keener on the stuff (sprayed/painted on exterior walls) than Mr N. Has anyone put spray coating on their house walls?
- went for a gym swim with buddy who gave me huge hugs and almost had me in tears with her concern; she knows Mum well as C and I went on hols with my parents when she was 17 and I was 19.
- did a small bit of tidying in my study.
- checked cc bill and made a note to set up payment.
- tried ringing Mum twice, no reply. Later found slightly teary-sounding voicemail; tried ringing several times but no reply. Eventually rang rehab home to check; she is fine and they passed the phone to her. She sounded reasonably ok and no tears.
- sorted out scrunchy plastic to take for recycling tomorrow as I have to go in to the library and usually park in Mr T which has a recycling bin. Then I have to pack for the weekend although as we are going on the motorbike this time I will only have half a small bag! So that's kindle, undies, shorts, swimsuit, contact lenses, toothbrush and one spare t-shirt and trousers in case we go out to eat one night.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Morning everyone xx
It's Friyayyyyyy again. And it's payday woot woot.
I'm up, dressed, made my bed, packed my lunch bag, eaten breakfast, completed Wordle and Connections (no lives lost today woot woot) and I'm supping a brew.
I was supposed to be going out for tea tonight with two colleagues and an ex colleague, but I want to watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony so I was in two minds about it. One of my colleagues has had to drop out, so I suggested the other two could meet up without me. As in I'm not going either. Friday evening is not a good night for me to socialise anyway - I'm done with peopling by 4.30 on a Friday! And I'm not paid to be nice after 4.30 😈
Better get a shufti on.
Have a good day
