Welll there's a thing, sorting the jewellery out is £1,135 off the debt. And not all of it, the diamond market isn't great apparently so save that ring for later in the year so the money got was just the scrap gold value for the wedding ring and a couple of way old inherited rings that I don't know whose they were. I can't quite believe it!!! That smashes the 5 figure barrier and some.

Have lopped a grand off the Halifax card and  booked hotels for Easter trip with monster#2 with less financial fear!

Will update my signature after January payday - 12 days away and it can't come soon enough!

Payday on Friday - it can't come soon enough, itching to clear more debts and as we all know the December to Jan payday gap always feels the longest! I have some remortgage costs, professional subscription and dental bills this month though.

I won't quite hit the elusive £10k though as I have agreed a long overdue trip to visit a good friend overseas later in the year and have booked the flight for that as it was a "cheap" price, won't have to pay accom costs when there, just socialising and activities.

I cancelled one of my credit cards now it was empty to avoid temptation so expect my credit score will take a hit as my utilisation will jump but this is only for a few months so am not massively concerned.

That well known only letters in their name DIY chain have a 40%-60% off kitchen doors sale on at the moment and really tempted to order them as cost would be £277 vs £587, can get carcasses later in the year when they have a sale on as they had a 20% or 25% off at some point last year - full price for units and doors would be £1,250 but with these discounts would make it about £800, storing the doors wouldn't be a problem, the carcasses would be more annoying as don't think I have that much space under my bed! I then just need to save for worktops, sink, taps, dishwasher and someone to install it all.

Payday last week and lots of bits of debts paid off - I need to wait til statements next week for a couple of others to be sorted. It's child benefit day on Monday and then it's about 500 quid to see us through til Feb payday (groceries, commuting, replacement outgrown school uniform bits, contribution to spending money for teenmonster#2's school trip at half term and a little bit of social life).

Decided against the kitchen units - well the lovely bf talked me out of it and he helped me with some kitchen diy at the weekend to help tart up what's there so even more lovely of him. I still want a new kitchen though, especially a dishwasher - I can't even plumb one in temporarily as it is with the existing pipework and cupboards as removing one to make space will probably collapse the already rotten one next to it!

Looking like I might have to pay for meds for teenmonster#1 privately having been given the CAMHS run round, that's more credit card hits. Never ends does it but this does need doing, should have been done 2 years ago but ex delayed it.

My latest statement arrived from Very so another £49.99 or 0.49%  just cleared from my overall debts.

Next payday (3 weeks tomorrow) and another 7% will be gone, I will then definitely break and continue to be under the £10k barrier. The private meds I mentioned the other day will be over a few months and the ex has agreed to contribute so hopefully that bill can just come out of monthly money and not be added to debt.

Ooh, I've just realised my mobile SIM is out of contract - I'd been putting off changing as I only pay ~£10 per month and I thought my current provider was the only one to do free EU roaming which is useful for when I stay with family but seems not and via the magic of the amazing Sir Lewis' blagging skills I could nearly half that. Will sort that this evening :)

Well done on selling the jewellery that's a nice amount towards it. Is the medication something you could get on NHS further down the line if you prove it works for them? Just it's a big commitment every month otherwise and it's how long it's affordable for. Though I have no doubt you will find the money for it.
