Transfers all sorted
so in a few days time I'll be one card down! I ended up, for the same cost, doing a money transfer as that card was the last in my married name and can only transfer £750 per day to an account from my current account but so be it.
5 days til pay day and then a load more payments to pay down other balances can be made, gradually chipping away at other all.July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! Total £10,2760 -
Major money saving achieved today - set the wheels in motion for a (fee free) remortgage, using some savings to pay £2.5k from the loan and then reducing the term from 23 to 16 years so getting shot of the high rate I bought my place on last year when mortgage rates were much higher and going for a 5 year fix. The monthly payments will be £19 more than my current+overpayment amount but this is money saving in the long term. The new mortgage allows a 20% per annum penalty free overpayment so guess when all my unsecured debt is sorted, it's time to move from DFW to MFW!July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! here as I've (temporarily until full school trip details are out and I know the damage) broken the £10k barrier
Nothing much else to report - admin on the remortgage plodding on, seems the Land Registry still have something not updated from when I bought the place last year but hoping it's just a tick box.

Fabulous for you to be below £10,000 now on the debt repayment.
It's amazing how much progress is made when we switch from spending to repaying and eventually to saving. I still marvel that I've become a person with no debt and some savings. You will get there very soon with the progress you are making.

Back over £10k - despite payments made today (payday!), my 40% share of school trip is £80 per month for the next 12 months. But am getting there!

Damn me, post arrived - service charge bill due 1st Jan (it's 6 monthly). On the upside, I've saved for it this year so shouldn't affect my monthly spends - I'll probs pay the round amoutn from savings and the odd £60 from monthly cash though so to retain savings for the next 6 months due 1st July.July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! More damn - remembered professional subs are due on 1st Jan though last year I paid over 3 months so have made the first payment today. Couldn't see the apply for installments option but thought I'd chance it anyway and if they chase, I'll plead!
Big shopping and spreadsheet day today and after accounting for shopping, bills and transferring £350 into savings for annnual costs, things are looking hairy as only £190 left for groceries, commuting, petrol and socialising til 24th Jan. Some of those savings will be coming out again before next payday but at least they'll earn a few pence interest while there. At least I am not commuting for the next fortnight though I do have visiting family and DP petrol instead so probs much of a muchness.
Checked my credit score today and it seems to have gone down as now 2 of my 3 cards are utilsing over 50% (the other is empty) and it'll be March before that changes. Once I can get the Halifax below 50%, I'll close the M&S card.
I remembered YouGov so have signed back up to that and in about 100 years time I can use £50 from that to go towards debt, it all helps.
