Hi all. Vegas here we come - roll on 14th Nov.
Finally booked at Paris $872.00 inc taxes for 5 nights - received e mail from Harras yesterday, Halloween deal price is now $763.00 in taxes - can I just ring the hotel and ask for the cheaper price?

Also want to go to GC South, was thinking of this company - The Grand Canyon Tour Company - fixed winged plane from North Las Vegas, $249.00 each if booked before 16th Oct .

Any comments, ideas or advise. Thanks guys..

I think you will find that even on the strip the odds in Vegas are far better than over here. Slots tend to pay at least 95-98% where in casinos in this country the legal limit is 74% and not many will go above that.
Table games are better as well, you can do a lot more splitting and doubling with Vegas rules on B/J than here, (at least with Gala, and LCI) which makes for a lower house edge.
As for comping, that is almost a thing of the past unless you gamble serious money or spend a long time at the table. My last visit I played craps 2 hours a night for 6 nights average bet $100 at PlanetHo, my host said that I didn't even have enough for a sandwich. I placed my gold card on the counter in front of him and said that I would never play there again, and walked out.
And what sort of holiday would you go on then if one that makes you 2K profit makes you think twice about going back!! :rotfl:

I found us roulette pays 34-1 on a 38 number wheel, less odds for an extra number and some casinos dont even pay 1 1/2 times for blackjack its 6/5. I didnt really go for gambling just to have a look around the win was a bonus of course lol Its was also a hassle getting paid you have to fill in the same stupid form each time you win over a certain amount and it took 45 mins to get $4000 once i got well peeved as i was wanting to go to eat. This was at the ballagio by the way

Most of the money was won on roulette, we went from the the $5 tables to $300 european tables at various times depending how much we had won that day. We got the free buffet and express lane ticket because you only need 2000 points on those club cards for new members and we did this twice because its quite easily got for the amounts we played but they didnt comp anything outside of this kept telling us lot to use the card so next time we may get free rooms but i doubt that very much

Mental note not to play roulette at Bellagio - I've never seen anywhere pay less than 35-1. As for blackjack, the higher limit tables generally have the better rules...6/5 blackjack only really survives because people play it I think (many don't know better).

As for the stupid form, it's required by the IRS for wins over $1200 on slots...I didn't think that they did them for table games.

Regardless, one day I hope to be kept waiting for 45 minutes for winning $4,000. ;)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Don't see why not, if they dont entertain you just cancel it and rebook with the new price.

If you're looking for the wow factor I wouldn't do the fixed wing plane. I did that about 10 years ago - and almost felt disappointed, you just didn't get the perspective of the scale/size of everything. I think a helicopter into the canyon would be better, it'll cost more for sure but it's got to be worth it.

I'm just getting into this comping lark.
I don't consider myself a big enough gambler to qualify for comps and have always been happy with casino rate on rooms and the odd deduction off my hotel bill.
In the summer I contacted the Gold Coast for a casino rate and they comped me two nights (midweek in August so nothing massive but nice for goodwill especially as I'd never stayed or played there but had at their sister hotel the Orleans).
This month I got a Priceline booking at the Riviera-to start with I wasn't thrilled but it's actually a nice hotel and not too big (I loathe the mega hotels that take forever to get to the front door) and $70 for a weekend night was pretty good-and got a lot better when they upgraded me to a full suite with balcony.
I emailed them saying what a nice stay I had and could they do me any kind of deal for a weekend in early December-and they've offered me 2 nights comped and $20 food credit. As this is a quick pre-Christmas trip on a limited budget I'm very happy with this-for 2 nights I'm happy to walk to mid-strip or get the deuce (did both last time).
Don't assume you won't qualify for comps especially in the lower profile hotels and off season.

I have never played roullette in the Bellagio but have played it in lots of other casinos in Vegas and never been payed anything other than 35/1 on single zero and double zero wheels, playing roullette does explain lack of comps though. You say you were payed less odds for an extra number, what do you mean? I didnt know there were any tables with more than 38 numbers.

I am like Ferf tho....I hope I have to wait 45 mins for $4000 nxt time I am there

3/2 is the norm, except for the single deck games on the strip or the tables near the entrances, you just gotta watch out for them

    You poor thing :rotfl:
photome, AFAIU roulette is one of the table games where you DO get rated better, the odds are in the casinos favour more than any other table game, so you get comped more for playing
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
