Thanks Ferf. I'll see if it comes up at half price outlets I think and eat elsewhere. I have a huge list of places I'd like to eat anyway.

What's the first - is it poker where you're playing other people, and not the house? I don't like blackjack. I know it has the least advantage over you, but it's so boring to me.

I Was just setting the suspense;)
Statistically the best game is craps pass line bet with 100x odds behind, to be found only in Casino Royale ASAIK house edge of 1/4% or there abouts.
Like other people I do tend to find B/J rather boring now. Used to play nothing but for years, then I had a free craps lesson at the Flamingo, the guy giving the lesson asked if anyone played B/J, he said that once you mastered craps you will never go back. That was 2 years ago and I don't think I have played more than 1 hour of B/J in Vegas since, even though I do play every weekend in England, only because there are no craps tables at the casinos in Nottingham.
Don't let craps put you off by all the people throwing money everywhere and using terms that you don't understand. There is only 1 bet you need to know, and a free lesson on how to start playing will set you up. I love playing, the excitement of a hot table and all that, just can't get to grips with all the high fiveing stuff
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Just got back and am i knackered, never walked so much in my life to do shopping.
Cant believe the odds in the casinos though worse than they are over here. I did get a free holiday as i won more than to cover the whole cost plus all the shopping and still had $2k left over as profit but they dont seem to comp you for things like i've read about. Managed to get a free brunch at the ballagio as all my money was won there

Had a good time in all but not sure if i'd go again but if i did would need to plan my days out better. This getting up at 5am everyday due to the time difference was killing although there wasnt much queuing at that time lol

I think you will find that even on the strip the odds in Vegas are far better than over here. Slots tend to pay at least 95-98% where in casinos in this country the legal limit is 74% and not many will go above that.
Table games are better as well, you can do a lot more splitting and doubling with Vegas rules on B/J than here, (at least with Gala, and LCI) which makes for a lower house edge.
As for comping, that is almost a thing of the past unless you gamble serious money or spend a long time at the table. My last visit I played craps 2 hours a night for 6 nights average bet $100 at PlanetHo, my host said that I didn't even have enough for a sandwich. I placed my gold card on the counter in front of him and said that I would never play there again, and walked out.
And what sort of holiday would you go on then if one that makes you 2K profit makes you think twice about going back!! :rotfl:

    Oh, craps! :D
I did go to a lesson with OH a few years ago (in the Flamingo too) and I didn't really get it. I'm one of these people that need to be told things a hundred times before the penny drops. I like all the high fives and the buzz around a table, so will try out craps again next trip. It's on the list!

I'm sure we also got a $5 free bet or something at the end of the lesson, so would be worth the 15 mins or so to get a free bet even if you know what you're doing ;)

I forgot about that - it won't open if you click, but will open if you copy and paste the link (I think tripod doesn't allow hotlinking)...it's a series of photos someone took of tix4tonight a few months ago - all the screens of offerings that day.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

You and me both. I wish I could get it - it seems like so much fun...but my one experience was of me completely dazed, getting yelled at by the dealers when it was my roll and I kept shaking the dice in both hands like I was playing monopoly and whatever I was rolling was losing my friends money...so it scared me off it.

It does look like good fun though.

You say they didnt comp you, is that because you were playing poker? They dont make much money from you playing poker so very little comps. If you were playing other table games for a few hours a day with relatively high stakes you would./should have been comped

I'm sorting through some of the coupons I might want to use on my next trip in a few weeks time, and came across this one. Free admission for 2 to Nathan Burton when you buy one Flamingo buffet (min value of $19.95).
    http://www.vegas4locals.com/couponnathanburtoncomedymagic_buffet.html

Anyone eaten at the Flamingo buffet. Think I remember someone recently in a Go Room saying it was awful?
Does this show come up at the half price outlets?
Anyone seen the show? Was it any good?

Seems a decent offer for $20 spend......
Never had a dinner buffet there, but have had a brunch (they dont do breakfast) and I like it and prefer it to the Paris for breakfast, and you can get a table overlooking the flamingos

This is great. A reminder of what shows I might come across. As we have nothing that we really want to see, we'll just head down and pick something on the day. Ta muchly.
