I don't think any helicopters land at Hoover Dam, although I could be wrong. I also searched the internet too and couldn't find anything. Most of the GC trips go over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, but they don't land there. For Hoover Dam, I think you pretty much need to go by bus or car.

I think you're right - most go over the Dam, but don't land...so if you want to see it from the air then the heli tour would do it. If you want to stop and look around and go on the tour, it's an easy drive from Vegas either by yourself or with a bus tour. It's pretty impressive, I think.

The only heli tours that stop in the GC are not worth going on, the landing of helicopters in the Grand Canyon national park is not permitted so you woudl be taken to GC West which is not in the GC nat park and certainly not what you would be expecting to see. This is where the skywalk is which is an impressive piece of engineering but the natural beauty does not come close to the GC Nat park South or NOrth Rim.

I agree with sew109 that the south rim is far more spectacular being the "real" GC, but if time is an issue i think it would be better to visit the west rim than to not visit at all.

    Congrats on the upcoming wedding.

Being a big wedding destination, Vegas has loads of bridal shops - some listed here:

    http://www.bridesclub.com/wedding/las-vegas-weddings/wedding-dresses.cfm

Also the big department stores have bridal sections...like Macy's:

    http://www1.macys.com/catalog/index.ognc?CategoryID=35252&PageID=35252*1*24*-1*-1&kw=Bridal%20Shop&LinkType=EverGreen

I'm not sure how many of these shops have dresses you can purchase off the rack or if there would be a wait to get one in stock (sure they have the various styles in many sizes to try on but not sure if they order in ones to actually buy)...but it's worth taking a look. My impression is that you would have quite a selection in quite a range of prices.

oh, also, depending on the value of the dress you may get hit for import duty if you have it shipped back home - just something to consider when pricing things.

Thanks, helpful info as ususal, anyone know a rough % on import duty?

Would be worth knowing, but also may be useful to go to shops with a wide variety so that my wife to be can make her mind up on a style of dress (if thats the correct word), could be a useful use of a day either way for her!

It's not the inport duty that hurts - thats only a few %, the thing that can hurt is the VAT.

In addition to Fashion Show Mall on the strip, there are at least 2 more - Boulevard Mall on Maryland Parkway and Galleria Mall near Sunset Station.

Don't forget to get your 11% off voucher for being an out of state shopper!

And Boulevard Mall do a coupon book if you have the voucher (they may do it if you ask nicely without the voucher too).
