Casino Royale is the only on strip cheap cash machine at $1.50 per transaction.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk, there is a credit union drive through cash machine just behind the PH on Harmon. This one has never charged me for getting my cash out using a Nationwide card. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=12816641970537173215,36.108019,-115.167147&saddr=36.108314,-115.167156&daddr=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=17&sll=36.108358,-115.167081&sspn=0.003571,0.00663&ie=UTF8&ll=36.108358,-115.167081&spn=0.007142,0.013261&z=16

    Hi Forum

Great thread... I am going to LV in September and after browsing the Tripadvisor Forum I spotted someone state that fees from ATMs can be approx 8-10%.

I have the standard MSE abroad Issue Nationwide Flex account and was planning to withdraw my cash in LV with this - now I am apprehensive.

Most people who are talking about excessive rates are talking about cash advances on credit cards or debit cards where you're over your limit or similar exceptional situations...the signs on the machines themselves can be confusing but for standard ATM transactions the most we have ever paid using one in a casino is $4.99. Those above have pointed you to some that are less but using a debit card to withdraw funds in your account within your daily limited should never cost you 8-10% of the withdrawal.

What ATM you use doesn't impact what exchange rate you get - Nationwide determines that and as you know you will get the bank rate - so you can't really do better.

    Thanks for the advice.

Just rang them and they changed it to the lower rate immediately. Duration of the call was probably 2 mins max - excellent. Will keep my eyes peeled on the rate between now and October and maybe it may creep down even further!!

I gave you advice first and you didnt thank me!!!

I agree. We paid about that, no wine but a couple of beers (not wine drinkers, us). I wore a skirt and blouse, hubby wore tan trousers and a button-down shirt. Personally we would never do it again - nice to do once for the view, yes...but wouldn't expect much from the food (silly us, we did for that price) - felt it would have been overpriced at 1/2 what we paid and have had far better meals in Vegas for far, far less money.

We're in the minority though - many rave about the place. :)

Edited to add - we're not snooty, difficult to please diners, either. Heck, one of our favorites is EI BBQ, after all. :)

Hello everyone! - Im back from my wonderful trip to Vegas - just reading through the posts Ive missed - so will be caught up in a couple of days I think! Stew68 - thanks very much for wishing me a good trip - I only got your message when I returned! I will be posting some highlights of the trip in the next few days (still catching up with everything here).

Just wanted to add my comments on TOTW Restaurant @ Strat. This was on our list to do on our first full day in vegas this year and although I am really pleased that I have done it and enjoyed it greatly at the time I would not go back.

The food IS overpriced for what you get - our bill was £105 sterling (I paid on my credit card as I wasnt expecting it to be that much!) and the starter left a LOT to be desired! Main course of steak was very tasty - very nice piece of meat but the sides at $10 a pop were ridiculous - we ordered three two different types of potato and a veg - our waiter omitted to mention that one side is meant for two :) we were stuffed.

We were lucky and got a booth - which mean you face out towards the view. HOWEVER - we were unable to take any decent photos cos the table in front of us would stand up etc and block the view. It was a great experience and Im pleased to have done it but, as I say, I wont go back there for the food alone - its really not worth it. There are just as good views from Voodoo Lounge (nightclub) at the Rio.

Ferf - as for Ellis Island BBQ - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im licking my lips at the thought of it. $8.99 for the two of us (used the ACG buy one get one free voucher together with four free drinks at the bar) unbelievable value. If you havent been before then get yourselves there on your next trip! Its just behind Ballys - walkable even in the July heat. Half a chicken, half rack of ribs, two corns, garlic bread and beans. Coronas are $1.50 & their own brew is $1 a pint. Its a real locals place but you dont feel out of place. I loved their mini craps table. Really worth a visit! Dont be put off by the external appearance of the place!

Welcome back, Steff and glad to hear you had a good time. Sounds like we're on the same page with EI BBQ and TOTW.

Did you end up staying at Bally's or at least determine if it was the place you were worried it might be? :)

Hope you take time to write a trip report once you're settled as would love to read it.

They don't charge to cash them...but if you're going to bring TCs be sure they are in USD, not GBP.

It depends on how much you will need each day - a Nationwide Flex Account would possibly be the safest and get you the best deal if you can work within £300/day withdrawal limit. That way you only withdraw what you need each day and get the bank rate at the time of the withdrawl. No hassle with TCs that need to be changed back, etc.

There's loads of comments on this thread about TCs so maybe do a search to see what has been suggested.

restaurant.com - 70% off code to the end of the month is CRAVE

so if there are any interesting certificates still available that would work out to $3 for a $25 off voucher (normally $10 when full price). there's hasn't been a 70% off code since at least April, I don't think - so may be worth checking - vouchers are good for a year from the date they are ordered.

Just got back from another long weekend in Vegas

Lots of empty seats on the Virgin flights from/to Gatwick, I managed a whole middle row to myself both outward on Friday, and the return last night. They even had plenty of premium upgrades still available at the gate for £199
