Next MSE things! Papillion helicopter flight flying over the usual sights then dropping down into the Canyon and having a picnic by the Colorado - £119 per person.
Good deal? Or should I keep looking?
Im 'certain' we used papillion, it was good, really good. the trip we did was a touch different to the one you describe though, we flew to the canyon landed on a ranch and there was a cowboy show and breakfast, the wife did some horse riding, and I tried to learn the lasoo (typo?). Even early in the morning it was fiercely hot (mid you it didnt drop below 98 at night the whole fortnight we were there). the flight back covered the bowl of fire and then went round the back of the Stratosphere down the west side of the strip and then at the Luxor went across towards the airport to land. It gave a perfect shot up strip as we came past the luxor and was a really great picture. no problems using camera or video on the flight AND you get to see some planes that dont exist at the airport? military planes that are used to fly staff out to area 51, be carefull if you take pitcures of them as allegedly people have had cameras confiscated. I must admit all in all it was better than I was expecting a nice touch i thought was the dambusters music in the headphones:D0 -
SeptemberI saw the area 51 tour the last time, has anyone done it? Is it a full day thing?
I'd love to do it but we only have 4 days in Vegas this time and i don't want to spend an entire day on a coach.Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Is there enough to do there without gambling for two weeks or should we go for a week and then head out to Los angeles for a week?
Does anyone know anycheap sites for flights from manchester?
thanks all!!
is there enough to do in 2 weeks undoubtedly IMO if your a 1st time visitor .
as for Manchester only BMI and My travel fly direct. BMI prices can drop to good levels , but when is totally unpredictable . the price you get quoted today may drop, go up, or stay the same there is no formula or method to say if you wait until XXX date you will save money.
MY Travel / Thomas cook however will get almost certainly get cheaper the nearer your dates get. if you are prepared to risk a late booking big savings can be made. check back through this thread to April this year to see my "MY TRAVEL PRICE CHECKS" for April and how close to departure the prices were available. remember the standard luggage allowance is only 15kg for these flights (upgradeable to 20kg) .if you are searching for these flights ....search for a holiday to Vegas on a Wednesday on the my travel website and you get a flight only option called " Fly Drive" i think it comes with car hire still , but none of the needed insurance for the car hire..... which will cost as much as doing it with a different company , and not bothering to pick up the My Travel car.
also remember both company's only fly once or twice a week in April see
main guide (post #1) for details .
if you wanna fly indirect you better off searching all the other American carriers as well as airline network and other search engines ect.Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Steve
if you booked online direct you will have a booking ref on your confirmation e mail . if you booked through a 3rd party you will probably have to contact them . call TI up direct on 1-800-288-7206 using this service at 1p per min

Marchyou booked through a 3rd party you will probably have to contact them .
Agreed - and remember that if you booked through a 3rd party, TI will probably not have any record of your name until very shortly before your date - most 3rd parties have block reservations and don't send the details of the individual reservations through until a week or so before.
Found this out years ago when I called to confirm a reservation with the hotel and they had no record of it, then I called the 3rd party in a panic and they explained that all was OK and that the hotel wouldn't get my details until much closer the time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Guys, any thoughts on the Venetian as our choice of hotel (it is booked for 5 nights)
Also this is out first trip - we are there for 5 days- I like cards and roulette (but not very good at either) - what should we do for the 5 days.. any thoughts recommendations.
P.S My wife loves nice restaurants good food and plenty of craic in bars, so any tips would be so appreciated - we are amateurs at this.0 -

1st Hire a Car
In 2 weeks I would spend 1 in Vegas, you can do all the sites with time to spare, then either drive over to flagstaff and do the Grand Canyon if you are into that kind of thing, or down to LA if you prefer.
We often do LA for the day from Vegas, depends on how much you like driving, its a nice steady 3hour 30 min drive
Or if you drive down on a Friday and come back on a Monday you miss out on the expensive and busy nights in Vegas. You can actually save money by flying to LA and driving to Vegas for the days you want to be there. The Car Hire Taxes and fees are a lot lower in Los Angeles than Las Vegas, an average car hire for 2 weeks can save you over $250 in taxes and fees from LA (Plenty to pay for fuel). Plus more chance of finding a bargain fare to LA than Vegas.
If its a first trip I would use it as a sampler, 5 to 7 in Vegas 2 at the Canyon and 4 or 5 in LA. Will be about 800 miles of driving but well worth it for the scenery
For example our trip this week is working in San Diego for a few days but we are taking friends as well so
Fly Man to Las Vegas Tues 22nd
Staying Vegas overnight, (Whisky Petes Primm), down to San Diego on Wednesday morning (5 Hour Drive, stopping for one job outside LA). 5 Days working in San Diego. Then driving out to Phoenix for 3 days as friends are into the Desert Scenery, then upto Flagstaff and a day around the Grand Canyon for them. Then over to Laughlin for 2 days at the river casinos (Much cheaper at a weekend than Vegas), then back to Vegas for the last 2 days and fly home (About 1300 Miles in Total). Which is a Very low mileage trip for us.
Car is a Mid Size SUV (Booked thru a Discount Site)
$258.00 for 14 Days + $131.11 Taxes and Fees = $389.11 = £195.00 (We have an annual car hire insurance policy so dont have to pay the extra insurance) (Cost £80 per year)Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -

The trip you describe is the one I wanted us to go on! I definitely wanted the whole BBQ/ranch thing. I couldn't find it on the Papillion site and I think that it might be out of our budget. I've actually found a much cheaper one, for £60. Its a small plane instead and there's no landing but it sounds okay for the price.

It doesn't mention South or West Rim so I hope it'll be okay? I'm a bit concerned as it seems TOO cheap..2016 diet challenge 16lbs/42lbs lost
