Guys, any thoughts on the Venetian as our choice of hotel (it is booked for 5 nights)
Also this is out first trip - we are there for 5 days- I like cards and roulette (but not very good at either) - what should we do for the 5 days.. any thoughts recommendations.

P.S My wife loves nice restaurants good food and plenty of craic in bars, so any tips would be so appreciated - we are amateurs at this.

The only problem you might have with the Venetian is that it might be a bit too nice , i prefer slightly less posh place to stay , but that is defiantly personal preference.

what to do for five days , visit the grand canyon , visit all the casinos you like and go to all the attractions, go bargain hunting in the outlet malls , see shows , go partying , go have fun in the pool, eat like a king ,get pampered in a spa the list goes on and on and in five days you cannot possibly do it all , invest in guide book to narrow it down. the unofficial guide to LV is the best IMO.

nice restaurants , the choice seems almost endless , as does the amount of bars ect. you need to narrow down your preferences a bit , so we can offer our opinions  ;)

the mandalay bay offer is good for when i am there and for 3 nights works out at $370 including taxes , thats with taking the lowest night rate of. seriously condsidering this !!!!
what do you all think i have read the reviews and it looks great, but being the moneysaver i am, will I be too tight to pay for food in the hotel as we do like to have breakfast in hotel.
Also is it going to spoil me as my next 3 nights are at nyny.

THE HOTEL is a bit ( but still very nice) but Mandalay Bay as whole though does not feel like you are outta place. It is aimed at the more casual dressed Vegas visitor , what with the House of Blues that host more festival type bands. i have never felt out of place there .

would i stay there ??? .,..definatly if the price was right

Thanks for this - I would love to narrow down my preferences but can't as I don't know anything about the place.

I think I will sight see a couple of days and then gamble eat and drink the others - I suppose I wanted to know

    1. Fav bars
    2. Fav restaurants (mexican, chinese, thai etc)
    3. Fav place for gambling
    4. Cheapest tables for gambling
    5. The 20 dollar trick - does it really work
    6. Getting from airport to venetian....

    Thanks:beer:

    1. i love the dueling piano bar in NYNY.Margaritaville @ Flamingo for live music (also dining)
    2. Isla @ TI for Mexican , Blackstones @ Monte carlo for very expensive steak , see post #1 for best buffets
    3. you need to find somewhere that suits your budget.this is really down to personal preference
    4. i like O'sheas for cheap table games and Harrahs for good value tourney poker . always join the players club if doing any gambling.
    5. it sure does .. but not every single time . see post #1 for links about $20 trick .
    6. taxi is easiest ,when you get in say "don't take the tunnel " see post #1for for link to fare guides . Venetian should be about $20 not including tip
you can get shuttle bus if your your really short of cash or a limo if your flush .

    1. Fav bars

For an experience, try the bar at Toby Keith's restaurant at Harrahs...if you hate country music, give it a miss, but I think it's a really fun place and a bit of an experience.

We don't really do bars, so that's all I got.
    2. Fav restaurants (mexican, chinese, thai etc)

    Chinese - PF Changs, Aladdin
Thai - Lotus of Siam (off strip, but regularly said to be one of the best Thai restaurants in all of the US). I loved it.
    Barbeque - Ellis Island
Steak - Austin's at Texas Station (restaurant.com has vouchers for $25 off - $10 cost normally, can usually get them for $5 when the 50% off codes come out); Sonoma Cellar at Sunset Station (same deal)
Overall - Mon Ami Gabi at Paris - patio with fountain view, dinner, beautiful.
    Cafe - Peppermill
    3. Fav place for gambling

I'm a slot player and quite like Harrah's, but don't really have a favorite.
    4. Cheapest tables for gambling

Downtown or off strip will be your best bet. On the strip, Slots-a-Fun, Casino Royale.
    5. The 20 dollar trick - does it really work

Many times, see www.frontdesktip.com for details on specific hotels.
    6. Getting from airport to venetian....

    Taxi!

    JosephCoyle,

Foodwise staying at the Venetian, you've got the Grand Lux Cafe at both the Venetian and the adjoining Palazzo, massive menu and open 24 hours I think. Kind of next door is the Wynn with their famous buffet, we really gave it a go during in our trip in May and can heartily reccomend it. (Still on the diet after it though!!)

Oooh, yeah...can't believe I didn't think of that.

Would recommend reviewing the menu in advance as it's massive and SO many things look so great.

My husband heartily recommends the jumbo fried shrimp and from the taste I had, I would have to agree with him. Next trip I'm trying the Asian Nachos from the appetizer menu. Portions are enormous.

    Venetian's is open 24-hours...Palazzo I think closes about 2am.
