Thanks Sew, the pics were lovely, did you only pay $72 pn? However, my question really was has anyone stayed in the Meridian Luxory resort. We definately are having 2 nights in ( probably Mirage) but the first 5 nights we want a 2 bed suite, just off strip - its only 1 block. As I said, its looks fab on the website, but I know MSE ers may have their own opinions if it is value for money.

Hio we paid $305 a night for the penthouse suite on the link i put up its from I think about $160, the Tower suites (from $133) are the same layout but the furnishings not quite as nice. When I booked it the prices was $1005 a night but I watched the website and called the hotel as the price dropped and they changed my price. We have paid $72 per night for a standard room at Xmas still good value.

In round about 30 Vegas trips I have stayed off of Strip twice once at Ellis Island when I was penniless and young (those were the days) and once at a rented house, I would not ever consider staying off strip even a 100 yards as when you head back for the night you feel you are leaving where you want to be you feel that you are sort of out of it. Some people may well lilke this but however nice the property is I would not stay there.

  • I notice the monorail website is doing $20 for 6 ride passes if you purchase online. Are those types of deals available at the ticketing booths? Is this is a good offer i.e. will this be an effective way to get around? We don't mind walking but I think I'd prefer a monorail to a bus if there was a choice.

You've got me all excited about the Mirage now!! Looks great, perfect for what we want in fact. The cheapest I found for 7 nights stay is £750 which over budget but I might book somewhere else, then keep looking for cheap deals. Checked the newer rooms on Trip Advisor, they look great!

I'm going with family so they're a little bit edgy about me not booking a hotel yet but I'm insistent on getting the best deal. The flights were £330 (Northwest Airlines) so I'm doing it the MSE way so far!

Book with the hotel directly we have booked this deal below at $72 per room per night for Xmas.Book the hotel now you can cancel at any point upto 48 hours before check in, if the rate drops call the hotel they will drop your rate to match it or if you find a better deal elsewhere cancel and book that. This is the best way to book for Vegas it gives you the security of having a booking and the best possible rate. https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?host=promo&pid=160&code=RRDLUX08&kbid=542076

The deals I have seen online have allways been available at the booths and the monrail is nicer than a bus however it stops at about 2am I think and the monrail stations are hike from the part of the casino that you want to be at. That said I have not got a bus in Vegas for 10 years I have used the monrail but generally drive or use cabs

It's still $1405 for the total stay, but this is in mid September. I'll book something and then hope they drop the price. I think they will, as all week long bookings for July and August are about $900 for the week!

I'd rather hold my nerve and wait to get a deal then instead of booking and un-booking but I better sort something out to settle the nerves of my family...

I know what you mean I had my wife on at me when booking our wedding have you booked it, what if they sell out etc.... I knew that the prices would come down but I think I did it right, I installed Skype on my PC and then when the rates drop call them up on skype for free on the 1-800 number, I put £10 skype out credit and have to make one call every 30 days so I call my home phone very quickly I think I still have £9.56 in credit.

The mirage is a cracker, i couldn't recomend it enough, and with the rooms now being done up it should be even better. This year the Aquarium is open again behind the reception, and the new spa and beauty sweet, although do bear in mind that towards the end of the year the Volcanoe is being closed for refurbishment
  • I'm definitely going to push for the Mirage now.. and try to hold my nerve. I can call abroad from work.. I also need to book the House of Blues gospel buffet too, they only take phone call bookings.

We're going to try and be sneaky and have 4 people in one room. Is this going to be a problem with access to pools/anything else?

The limit is £145 or about 275USD some people on here brag about exceeding
    this limit.

As long as you take tags out and leave boxes etc behind I dont see how it is enforcable? between the two of us last year we hit the hsbc 0% credit card for WELL over £1,500 in clothes, and thats before other gifts we brought back for family and friends

Unless your a overly close group of 4, you might want to consider 2 queen beds instead of 1 king:D

i'd say not to all go to check in, just two of you, and the rest meet you upstairs, and obviously make sure that when you go to bed the maids are locked out.

from our time there I cant recall a time when it would have caused a problem. we lost one of the rooms cards about a week into our fortnight, told reception who said not to worry and we just used the one card when going to the pool etc (the wife wouldn't let me have another one to lose again) and we had no problem with it. As i say the only issue might be when the maid comes, but if you avoid that and your not too obvious then it shouldn't be a problem.
