MarchMy Fav place to stay after last visit is now Caesars , but we were lucky in that we were upgraded to the Augustus Tower with the $20 trick. location wise it is unbeatable , and it has plenty of luxury , but feels very welcoming to the like of me and the wife. downsides are it is HUGE , and if you self park , it can be 20 minute hike to your room. always use the valet if available.
Amen! When we arrived at shortly after 10 and weren't sure if we would be able to check in, we self-parked and left the cases in the car as we planned to head out to Sams Town if we couldn't check in so didn't want to valet...as it happened, we WERE able to check in and that haul back to self-park and back to the room was a trek...and as things would turn out, we spent a good deal of our time in the Forum Casino, self parked or parked at the Collesium (I cannot spell that word!) valet and would probably have been far better off in the Forum Tower where we were booked rather than the Palace Tower where we were upgraded...still, we got plenty of exercise. Caesars was way too big for us and probably put the nail in the coffin to ever consider staying at MGM.
And I thought of you on the flight back, Trets...I thought of you and your hours in the loo and did consider trying it out but as we were in row 25, I was hesitant to walk aaaaall the way to the back of the plane past rows and rows of dozing passengers. I also considered sitting on the floor if the flight attendants wouldn't scold me straight away. The folding jump seat in front of me was tempting, too.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
In reply to all the snotty posters on here who like to pick at peoples posts : I have checked luggage at Manchester airport in the past and not seen it again until Las Vegas. That is fact. I do not care about what you think.
However, I have also collected luggage at my first point of entry into the US and deposited down a shaft for it to be sent on.
I really dont know why people come on here and try to help when certain other posters only seem to be wanting to point the finger and find fault. I guess some folk are just neg - heads.
In future I wont bother, and will be content to sit back and read and not try to help anyone.

Hi all,
I have two questions:
First: How full are virgin flights in september (or in general)? The reason I ask is because I have a 'stand-by' ticket which means that I have to wait till everyone has boarded the plane and only if there is any space on the plane, then I will be allowed to get. So I'm trying to find out my chances of getting on the flight?
Second: Virgin flys from Gatwick so I'll have to find accommodation in London near Gatwick the night before. Was wondering where others find their accommodation from?
Thanks in advance

Most times it seems that the flight is sold out - at least in economy.
Perhaps closer to the day sign up for the 5-day free trial at expertflyer.com to see what sort of availability the flight has.
When we fly from Gatwick we always stay at the Hilton and normally find that www.holidayextras.co.uk has good rates, though last few trips booking direct with the Hilton was best. It's not the cheapest hotel but being connected to the terminal is really worth it we think.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I don't think that others are picking at your post - but given that it's a requirement that passengers collect their baggage at their first point of entry in the US, it's odd that you've had a different experience.
Can I ask what airline you flew with and when this occurred?
If you did experience this, it's strange and certainly not the norm - so those who replied were likely just trying to clarify the situation for the person who asked the question so they would know what to expect.
Unless you are talking about a direct flight in which case of course Vegas would be the first time you would see your luggage again - the question was regarding connections within the US.
And my husband has just noted that if you got on a plane in Manchester ticketed throught to Vegas but with a connection somewhere in the UK, then you wouldn't see your bags again until Vegas. But you always have to collect and recheck your bags on your first point of entry in the US.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
