Decisions decisions. Luxor's new offer even cheaper than the no refund offer.
Now shall we wait or shall we grab!!!
Come trets and ferf. Enlighten us --- or just pray for us!

Hi,

We have just booked our flights from Glasgow, flying out 16th July - we're so looking forward to it.

Thinking of doing a few nights here & a few there. The Luxor no refund offer looked great - can you tell me what the new cheaper deal is please & how you can access it?

Just going to trawl through this thread to see what sites to visit etc.

Cheers

Cheers
• Can anyone recommend hotels for me please? I've trawled websites until my eyes are square!!

There are four of us going (all adults). I'll need 2 rooms and flights from Manchester. We want to fly out on Sunday 16 March and return Sunday 23 March (24 March).

I've seen direct flights with BMI for £513 per person but not sure whether to go for package deals on Expedia etc. As I say, my head's pickled, I've never been to America before, never mind Vegas!!!

We like the look of TI, Planet Hollywood & MGM Grand. I know I want to stay on the strip and preferably centre strip. Just don't know where. There is so much choice!!!

Can anyone who has stayed in any of the 3 hotels lately, please let me know what you think.

Cheers :cheesy:

http://www.quidco.com/post-office/

$40 will be about a half a weekday night i bet.

well your limted to BMI if you are determined to go from Manchester on a weekend. Thomas cook are restarting in march but wednesdays only till summer as usual from what i can see. ,
you have missed the BMI sale by 5 days i'm afraid   , shame cause March was included. they know when people start getting around to booking holidays don't they
Virgin are same price and i cannot find any money and miles fares for these dates  . BMI don't seem to come down the nearer you get to departure but i don't know for sure if they will or not of course. £513 is not great , but considering the closeness to departure and circumsatnces , it might be best bet. BMI is a much better flight than Virgin IMO.

take that price with the price of your stay with the MGM Grand offers posted in the last few days and compare like for like with Expedia. March Madness will be kicking off on March 20th so expect more expensive nights from then.

as for the Hotels mentioned here and your PM , i don't think any will dissapoint , but Planet Hollywood is my fav choice for myself of them purely for A1 location ( compared with A1 and half for the others so do not rule them out) and because it is still got that "new casino" feel to it . but no offers yet for it , hence as of typing today , my MGM grand booking is looking like the one . but that could all change tomorrow. but i have not stayed at the ones mentioned and i know other regular posters have

so time for me to shut and let them impart some expert advice:A
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

We're going from Manchester as 1 of the party lives there, but we live in Belfast, so we have to factor in flights to England and overnight accommodation. I've already booked flights to manchester for £40 return and overnight accom is free! The flight prices hadn't changed much in the BMI sale as I've been checking last 2 wks (was afraid to book without hotel, but not so afraid now!)

Thanks for your advice again trets77 :cool2:

Majority are direct, just depends on their numbers and whether it makes financial sense to combine. Of the three departure airports, without doubt the popularity is going to be Manchester, Glasgow, Aldergrove so by the time the flights start up again I would expect Manchester to still be predominantly direct and them combining Glasgow/Belfast.

The stops at Glasgow were widely reported here in the 2007 thread. You were just unlucky in getting one of those.

Morning,
Yes - In fact, I reported the stops in Glasgow on this thread as I thought it would be helpful to share.

For interests sake I have just taken a look at the new Thomas Cook flights for when I want to go this year - Sun 29 June, returning on Sunday 13 July.

The flight comes back at £928 for two stopping in Belfast on both legs.
This isnt stated clearly, but at least it is now in the terms and conditions before you book and pay for your flight as follows:-
"Important Notes for this booking
- OUTBOUND STANDARD CABIN AND OPERATES VIA BELFASTdot.gif- INBOUND STANDARD CABIN, AND OPERATES VIA BELFAST, ARRIVES U.K. THE FOLLOWING DAY"

So - looks like its still happening on the new flights - If it just happens to be these dates each year (specifically when I want to go) then i was obviously born under a bad sign!!:rotfl:

Watch out anyone else going the same time as me and honestly - either get a flight with a deliberate stop where you can actually disembark or try BMI - Ive got the same dates with similar times with them for £820 and these are direct. Very happy that this is the case.

yep thats the flight!!! OMG!!! I can't believe you havent booked your hotel yet either?! thats very brave of you! _pale_ I simply couldnt leave it late but perhaps if I was a bit more of a seasoned traveller then I would be a bit calmer about the whole experience.

Have you been to Vegas before? Where are you staying? I have square eyes from trawling the internet trying to reading up on everything  , lol.

Hi,

Can you tell me the where to get the best deal on the Luxor?

We looking to go a few nights in July, I was looking at the MVP offer but seen you mentioned an even lower rate.

Would I be better off hanging off for a few months before booking - will the prices come down?

1st trip to Vegas so we're just trying to find our feet.

Thanks

thanks for the info photome. schedule is looking like 4 nights La 2 nights SF 2 nights Yosemite 1 night Death Valley and 5 nights in LV . I'm thinking of twiddling our LA stay , we are currently booked into Hollywood hills hotel ( part of Magic Castle) for 4 nights , but I've heard Hollywood is seedy so i might swap a night for somewhere like Santa Monica.

Have you managed to find anywhere in Santa Monica?
Watch out for the parking charges at the hotels, they can get quite expensive.
We stayed at "The Ambrose" which is about 2 miles from the beach, no parking charges either! There are 3 hours free parking in the main multi storeys in the town anyway, so the distance wasn't too bad.

I will be there on the 20th march and looking like my first 3 days will be at MGM (3nights for price of 2) I have stayed there before, the rooms are good but the hotel is a bit big, well more than a bit big, over 5000 rooms it takes so long to get anywhere.

Stayed at PH when it was Alladin great position and if you can get a resort room for a $20 tip (we did) overlooking the Bellagio fountains, you would love it.

Havent stayed at TI but good reports.

If you want to be centre strip prob avoid IP unless you can get it mega cheap ( I have a res there for $59 a night towards the end of my trip) apart from the IP you would not be disappointed with any of the strip hotels in that area (at the right price).

Trets we went though the the redwood park (cant remember its name) to see the seqoia well worth the visit, you should see the size of the pine cones.

We went in April/May time and still a lot of snow about.

We went there after leaving yosemite enroute to Vegas but we had a night in Bakersfield (I think) so we could spend lots of time exploring as someone else said its a long way from Yosemite to Vegas.
