    [snip]

Anyone have any first hand experiences of staying at the Orleans or any hints and tips for good rooms, floors, restaurants there etc... ?
    Steff

I stayed there twice last year, first time with a strip view & second time other side of the corridor with a mountain view.

I hadn't heard of the $20 trick at the time, so just asked for a high room with a nice view at check in. Worked perfectly the first time - high room with a view of the strip. Second time I was given a room on the 5th floor overlooking the parking garage with the rooftop lights shining in my room - just phoned reception, asked to be moved to a higher floor and was given a higher floor.

With the strip view you see (the back of) the whole of the strip. Depending where your room is, you may also be able to see the Palms, Rio etc. At night you see all of the lights, and in the morning you see the sunrise over the strip.

With the mountain view you see (yes, you guessed!) the mountains. Depending on the cloud cover, in the evening you may see some fantastic sunsets.

    Quote from trets

Tuscany Suites £582 - think I have talked myself out of this already... but this is rated number 54 in tripadvisor...

Steff, my wife & I stayed at the Tuscany, in July 07 & have just booked again for July 08. All I can say is it was fine there.
The suite we had was nice & big & had 2 king size beds, a couch, coffee table, dinning table & chairs, coffee maker, hot plate, microwave, fridge, pot & pans (never ues them!!) bath, shower, "film star" mirror, hair dryer, double sink, iron & ironing board & in room safe. We found it clean & the staff very friendly. Also just opposite is "Lawreys" truly the best steak I have ever had.
Whilst on the subject of food this may be usefull http://www.restaurant.com/listings.asp?VicinitySearchLevel=DISTRICT&StateID=37&SearchID=2026&DistrictID=390&RegionID=96

I bought 2 voucher last year, & had no problem using them, we went to the Himalayan & De Steffanos, both realy nice resturants. I did have a problem using a UK address when I tried to log on, I contacted Resturants.Com & they advised using thier address & it worked fine.

    Hope this helps
Tuscany suites casino is a pit, smells of sweat and desperation (or is that perspiration) we went in there to get some offers from the ACG, stayed about 10 minutes, made $30 and high tailed it out of there retching like mad, I kid you not, I almost threw up!
BTW, own up, who voted Ballys buffet as the best in Vegas:eek:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Con-Expo - 135,000 attendees...starts 11.03.08.

you can check conventions here - we always do before we book because in addition to hotel rates massive conventions like that have a big impact on the crowds everywhere.

Doh - thanks for that. We are all booked to be going over that period - I got a Bette Midler ticket for Christmas so we cant avoid it. We ended up having a holiday there last year at the same time as the big boxing match - not a really good idea!!! I have saved that link for next time. Thanks chaps!!

Stay 2 nights and get the 3rd free.

Anyone know quite how this 3rd night free works, you dont get the reduction until check out? So I take it you do not pay for the room upfront or do they credit your card. and how do you find out what the actual bioll is /will be?
    Ta!!

In most cases with Vegas hotels (and most hotels in the US) they only charge you the first night as a deposit when you book...you don't pay anything else until you check out. As far as finding out what the actual bill will be - it's the lowest of the 3 nights that is deducted plus the tax (at 9%) for that night I assume. It may say more in the booking confirmation you get. You could always book it and call them and ask what the expected final balance would be assuming nothing charged to the room.
