  • Final weigh in of this quarter. Down 2lbs this week. So now have 5.5 lbs left to get rid of.

I have done well this last month, and I genuinely think it's because I haven't had booze for a few weeks. The same when I lost a load of weight in January. I have been calorie counting, doing weights and plenty of walking and running when the weather has been ok. Mostly home made lunches and evening meals as well, so less high processed food. Looks like the way forward is really not drinking so much, but I do love a bottle of red in the winter!

Next week will be a challenge - family wedding on Monday with a big meal and booze! Then off on holiday on Thursday - looking forward to relaxing, but planning to do lots of walking and swimming to offset some of the nice food and drink I plan to eat!

Hope everyone has made some progress, KBO!

  • Well done everyone who got through the quarter, just checking in does help keep weight under control.

My aim to lose 25-30lb for this year has gone down the pan! My weight is and has been for a while going up and down by about 8lb a fortnight.  It does go down to what it should be, so I am maintaining, but it is frustrating.  I have a long-awaited appointment with a dietitian in a couple of weeks, hopefully I can get a few pointers, although I am old hand at this diet malarkey, I think it will give me a bit of a boost, even for a few months, I've nothing to lose.

What I am finding difficult is having to eat (while recovering), 4 protein-based meals of similar calories, it is very frustrating.  Top things I dislike which they want me to eat, yogurt, eggs, and more meat.  I'm going to give lentil soup a try (more protein), if anyone has a recipe?

I'm counting down the days until December now, this cold weather is not doing by aching bones any good, can't wait for the Spanish sunshine, not a single cake, mince pie or other traditional food will be bought that month, I enjoy Indian chicken tika and Bombay potato in a restaurant on the day as the alternative.

On another note, looked at comments by someone posting about the group, they felt it was not good for them as the people involved did not have a lot to lose!  One shoe does not fit all, so I understand what they meant (sort of) but I did laugh to myself as I thought, if you'd have seen what was wrapped / hanging around the top of my jeans a couple of years ago I'd change your mind.  :D

Have a good weekend everyone, it all starts again next week!

I make a lot of lentil or bean soups with veg. Filling and protein filled - around 8-10 g per serving. Plus they freeze well. I don't eat eggs or meat so I feel your pain!

The BBC food site has a few I regularly use.
Moroccan chickpea and broad bean soup is cheap, tasty and filling. Spiced butternut squash or sweet potato and lentil soups are nice too.

Hope the dietitian has some useful advice.

Thanks Pixie had a look and found one, might also have a go at roasting chickpeas.  I can eat turkey and chicken, but I can't eat packaged / processed meat or day old chicken after a meal, breast meat only and no bones in small amounts.  Mr Pepper when we first met once fed me a bit of chicken, it had skin on it, nearly threw.

I love this! Take them for work every night, just roast them with some smoked paprika, garlic salt and everything bagel seasoning....v tasty.
I also use black beans or butter beans mashed up to make sandwich fillings.
