Even legislation on the statute book is not safe from a commercial lobby  (and inexperienced politicians?)

    Will Private Parking Bill/Code survive?

I believe so but will it move slowly forward in it's current form as Tory Ministers planned or will it also be stopped for a review by Labour MHCLG Ministers?

BPA/IPC will win if the Code and its provisions continue to be delayed. Delay=uncertainty. And guess who will be orchestrating the "are you really sure???" lobby questions.
This Bill became law on the back of considerable cross-party support, but sadly that support may need to be re-built before ministers realise the need for action. At present what will motivate a junior minister to argue for a green light and action on this issue, when his Ministry is at best luke-warm towards the idea of doing what it is paid to do?

@Coupon-mad do you know and can you share if the Scrutiny and Standards Board Chairman was appointed. Think interviews were in Nov 2023.

I genuinely don't know any more than that.

I was not expecting anything from this Govt until after Summer Recess. So from next week the new MPs are in place and things should move.

Ms Florence Eshalomi MP, first appointment to  Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee.

This Committee should hold Minister & MHCLG to account.

Five+ years' delay and "don't rush this" are something of an oxymoron?

At this stage surely the only issue should be the extent to which the new minister trusts officials not to drop the ball again!

After reading the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act and the statutory Code of Practice came into force on 1st Oct 2024....8 YEARS after the Tories first consulted on it I'm now feeling a bit more confident Labour are getting the jobs done the Tories failed to do.
