I would like to have some text capability which rolls over so if that would not work then it would not be suitable. What about receiving texts?Wondering if they lock you out completely if you don't renew another month of if there is still some functionality.
I see, classic pay as you go, which rolls over, with bundle option works best for me then. The smarty one seems to be contract even though it says pay as you go on the website as a customer services rep just told me it is a monthly rolling one even through they call it pay as you go.

Smarty do not have contracts, there are no minimum terms and you don't agree to pay for anything in the future, but in effect it's very similar to a rolling 1-month contract.
Smarty have cheap monthly packages but their out of bundle PAYG charges are expensive.
Could look at iD mobile PAYG, relatively expensive bundles (4GB is £8) but have out-of-bundle charges of 3/2/1p for calls, texts, data. Their CS is (IMHO) dreadful.
Classic O2 Classic 3/2/1 PAYG SIMs are still available from eBay, (Probably) need topping up a tenner every six months to stay happy.1 -

I guess they were just wrong. Couldn't be bothered discussing with them on it so just ended the chat. Ok so the smarty one you could still get topup which would roll over and use the 5gb for £6 to just use now and then? After hours of looking at different offers I ran out of steam for a bit. Going to let the information simmer a bit!I doubt the CS of idmobile could be worse than the none existent CS of rwgmobile.

As I understand it the op wants a payg deal with the option to add one-off bundles as and when their usage dictates. Some providers may not allow you to use their service if you do not have an active plan?
Others do but their out-of-allowance rates are very well hidden. This is why I think the op might be better off with two sims and maintaining their regular number on a low cost payg with a second sim for higher usage months.0 -

Not suitable for my use case as I want to use on laptop so don't want to be switching sims all the time. Thanks for suggestion though.

1pmobile are good for out of bundle but really tight with the data bundles! £5 for only 1gb!!! then £7.50 for 4gb.Hmm think I will give them a whirl regardless and monitor my usage. 1p per mb might tide me over and if running short could get the extra 1gb. As long as I didn't run out then it would not matter if it was 1gb vs 50gb as anything more would be wasted anyway once the month ran out. 1p per mb topup £10 is in effect £10 for 1gb then I could get £10 for 2gb if I am reaching midway through and more than £5 left allowing me the extra 1gb boost. Hmm that might work out ok and if I planned more usage that month I could take 4gb for £7.50.The lower prices for more mb from other companies might be an illusion in this case given that it may have been wasted anyway.

Hmm what about nowmobile? Is that proper pay as you go or is the the 30 day contract thing again? If the former then £2.50 for 1gb looks a steal but looks too good to be true so guessing the latter.I noticed on the rwg apn details they seem to be using now for login details and the connection on 4g said now.

Nowmobile informed me that rwg are using their services aka resellers, so in that sense they are double resellers so why not cut out the (1st) middleman. Got an almost immediate response from now. Was just about to order with 1pmobile but will be going with these instead.
