Any mobile data offers which are better price than £5 per 5GB buuut on pay as you go?

Options
I guess for contracts there are other offers but for now I want to buy data on a pay as you go basis as I am not using the mobile all the time, only on occasion.

Have had a bad time with rwgmobile even though they offer the best price that I have found so far. Constant service issues and non existent support to resolve the problems.

I have seen it written that so long as you don't need any support then they are fine but things have never gone smoothly in the few months I have used it so support intervention is often required.

I bought another 5gb topup. It was a sunday so thought it may be activated on the next working day. I checked at that time and the data balance seemed to have been added but then thereafter disappeared again with no indication of me having an active bundle. Of course due to non existent customer support there is little further I can do.

Looking on trustpilot and other replies on this forum it seems par for the course.

As yet though I have been unable to find a competitive pay as you go data option from other options.

The best I have found is 1p mobile so far who offer £7.50 for 4gb. Certainly that is much more than £5 for 5gb but what is the latter worth if I am unable to get it to work consistently and no help. That is like having no service at all. So better the former with proper service and support.

I don't want a rolling monthly deal as yet since I am still using my mum's internet as my main connection. Once I leave then I would look into that but that point has not arrived yet so pay as you go works better for me for now.

Hmm where did you see that as I just looked on their site and don't see that offer. Nothing about it on the pay as you go section either.

Closest I saw is £1 per gb, which would be great, however that only applies if you are on a monthly paying scheme.

EDIT: Oh yea I see it down the page of pay as you go. This is pay in advance monthly so not real pay as you go. Alhtough maybe it would work the same for my use case in that I had to buy 30 days with rwgmobile for a bundle anyway. So maybe buy 30 days for £6 with smarty and just cancel immediately to prevent subsequent billing.

Just to confirm these 1 month sims do not have any ties? As in are they the same as classic pay as you go where I could just buy a month, cancel immediately, then not top up for a 1 or 3 (I know you get cut off if you don't use for an extended period but should be using between 1-3 as an estimate) and no ties if I don't topup provided I do it in aforementioned timeline above?

    Im a happy rwg customer.
When i want extra data which stops after 1 month, i always text the bundle code to 669 and the bundle starts instantly.
The 1 problem i did have was they didnt take the money off my credit, but sorted it with going on the support page on the website, but did have to remind them twice to take it

First two pages of your comments on this forum are you bigging up rwg and also happened to see an "alan jones" on the trustpilot rwg page as well singing their praises: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/rwgmobile.wales

I ordered an e-sim from RWG as a secondary network. An email with the QR code arrived the next day but it came up as invalid.

Two emails and an aborted phone call later I am no further forward. May have to consider a chargeback if it isn't resolved.

I had been trying that for a couple of weeks but nationwide's chargeback service was not working. Just came up with an error when I tried to do it. It seemed to go through the last time but that was about a week ago and not got a response. Usually with chargebacks they would respond in a couple of days.

Of course that has nothing to do with rwg.

I have to try and chargeback two now. 1st from about 2 months ago and now the latest one I bought a few days ago which they activated and then vanished again.

I am wondering if the 30 day contract sim only deals work out better and effectively the same as just getting a pay as you go and adding a month's bundle.

With the rolling monthly contract types if I don't top up will I be unable to use it at all until getting another month? I would like to have some text capability which rolls over so if that would not work then it would not be suitable. What about receiving texts?

Wondering if they lock you out completely if you don't renew another month of if there is still some functionality.

They are just like any other PAYM contract, you set up a monthly ongoing payment (usually a direct debit). If it doesn't get paid then your service stops. You are not "renewing" each month, the contract continues until you give notice (or use a PAC).
