Holidays with the On the Beach Company

Options
Im wondering if anyone else has booked a holiday through the company and had they managed to get any compensation or refunded money. Myself, my sister in law and her small child had a horrendous holiday and I cant upload the CAB template letter

You may get a better response here.

As for your question, I'm sure someone somewhere will have had some success claiming from them, but you're better off giving your own circumstances because no two complaints will be quite the same.  The question that is normally first asked is: What steps did you take to address the problems while you were there?   If so, what happened?  Because if you left the complaint until you returned, you've denied the company the chance to resolve the problem and potentially minimise their liabilities.

Which part of the holiday was the horrendous bit and did you raise it with the relevant people at the time - Example, if it was an issue with the hotel, did you make the hotel aware and give them the opportunity to address it?
You  also need to be aware that on the beach are a third-party broker which also affects any rights that you may have. And they are no longer members of ABTA.

For what it’s worth, previous threads on here seem to indicate that people have very little joy in getting compensation on the beach.
Might help to know what your issue was and on what grounds you are expecting a refund?

Hi, yes the room was a significant health and safety hazard.
We tried to resolve the issue with the hotel first
We then contacted OTB who said there was nothing they could do
We had to find and pay for different accomodation.

I read today they are a third party broker no longer with ABTA. I'll keep trying and give an update if I have any success

'Significant H&S hazard' still doesn't really tell us much, nor do you explain what the hotels reaction to your complaint was.  What you considered to be a hazard may not be viewed as such by the hotel.  More detailed information is required if anybody is going to be able to give meaningful advise or opinion.

Id rather not go into  the health condition. The small twin room with three single beds squashed in with no room to walk between two of them and the consequence this had for me and the fact if i had needed a paramedic, they would have struggled to get access. No lock on a balcony doors with a child occupying the room too and the air con did not work. We asked for a seperate room we were told none were available. We spoke to On the Beach the next day after arriving at1am, they could not help.

No one is asking about your health conditions they’re asking about what made the room uninhabitable.
Do you want the beach not show the room sizes? Three of you in a twin room was possibly always going to be a bit tight?
what was the description of the hotel room when you booked? Do you still have that?

2 singles pushed together to make a double bed is quite typical in continental hotels ... were those 2 made up as a double?

Were OTB (and so the hotel) aware of your "health condition" at the time of booking or prior to travel?

I didnt think anyone was asking me about my health condition, I was just commenting that I didnt want to go into it.

On the beach was orginally booking another hotel for three people, then said they couldnt but there was a room for three peple at another hotel. No they didnt show the room size, just said to my sister there was a room for three people in another hotel.

Hi. no they were not aware of the health condition. No the three beds were singles, not two as a double. I think I can post a photo so I will put one up in a second post   .

If they were unaware of your health condition then you can't use any "what if" scenario (and the consequence this had for me and the fact if i had needed a paramedic) as justification for a claim.

I'm not saying you don't have a claim, just that you need to be clear of the basis upon which you are claiming.
