It also occurred to me that this time next year, all the reserved pots will have been spent, so I'm not sure how I'll be paying these annual bills. ”

If you manage to hit your target, perhaps it’ll be with what would have gone on the mortgage! 🥳

Haha, yep, only problem is that some of the bills are due earlier than June 2026.

Maybe my 0% credit card will come to the rescue 🤔.

Oh no really 😟 that's disappointing.

At least l know so I can order while sizes are available.

I wonder why they're not doing it this year,  I've been buying uniform for 15 years and always tried to get the early bird offer.

To go from being in debt to mortgage free is quite some achievement. You must have worked really hard.  I hope you mark the final payment with a little treat or something else you like. ☺️

Are you leaving work in 2028 by choice, or end of contract, retirement etc?

We're a little way off retirement ourselves but I know we have barely any savings/pension pot so l will definitely be focusing on that after the mortgage is gone.  Pinkpieuni said:
June 26 is tough for us as well, it's needs must for us. Being debt free and saving will be a new experience, have always been in debt most of adult life.  What July 2026 will look like - will continue with the frugal lifestyle (batch cooking, walking and getting buses etc) as not sure what the future holds beyond 2028 when I leave my job.

contract ends 2028 - will be 45yrs then. I will probably find another job somewhere else but the industry i work in is currently facing cuts or downsizing - heavily dependent on the global economy policies and finding well paying jobs is like "hen's teeth" at the moment. So yes, working extremely hard to get rid of all the debts including mortgage and build up some savings.

Sorry your work situation is precarious. l feel your pain, although my job isn't that well paid it comes with some really good perks.

I think clearing the mortgage will bring that added security, the opportunity to save more and the knowledge that you can survive on a lower income. All really good incentives to keep going  😊

I had a lovely day yesterday, met a friend for a walk then we had a delicious lunch in the sunshine another £20 spent but, thankfully this month has a lot less social activity. I also sold a couple of things on Vinted and immediately re-spent the money on Vinted plus Vat  😅

    Evening all

Just popping on to declare a 6 day NSD streak (exclude food shopping).

Today was harder than normal because l really didn't want to eat leftovers for the 3rd day on the trot. But l did,  and it hasn't killed me 😂

Also checked out car insurance quotes at lunchtime, looks like it will cost about £500-550 for the year. More than l would like, but grateful we have that amount saved to cover it.

I also managed a gym workout this morning, need to be more consistent with this especially with school holidays looming. Routine always suffers when the kids are off.

    Have a good evening
