    Afternoon everyone,

l awoke with a renewed sense of motivation today.

Getting things down on paper yesterday gave me new focus 💪

This morning l made the £800 deposit payment onto the 0% credit card, think ill add that balance onto my signature. I've decided against using it for regular spending l think it could become a slippery slop. Instead the card will be kept at home but used for larger one off payments like the car insurance and holiday balance. Good to know its there for emergencies.

There is only a 1% minimum payment which l am hoping to pay for by underspending on our food budget I'm sure l can save £8 this month. As the balance increases l might need to subsidise it. But hey its only a year right.

I've just emptied the rent account, savings etc to make a £6000 over payment l was surprised that's what we could afford and kept rechecking before pressing "send".

This makes our new total £46,000 so happy 😁 to see a new number at the beginning. It also means that since we began last June we have more than halved the debt admittedly, we did have some savings which helped but even still I'm really happy with that.

In other news, l enjoyed the third session of my Adhd course this morning. I did my nails 💅 as l was listening so that's another job off the list. Vinted have just text to say my parcel has arrived so think ill take a walk in the sunshine to get it and possibly my free drink from Greggs courtesy of the Octopus reward scheme.

    Enjoy the sunshine

It sounds like you’re making great strides (again!) I think it’s right to be cautious over the 0% card. You’ve got the opportunity to throw money at the mortgage so why be tempted to spend more. You’ll soon be free of it! Hopefully the business transfer goes smoothly but in case, all these payments put you in a better position.

Thanks @ladysummerisle l sat and read your MFW diary during my lunch,  better than online shopping 😉

How is your health these days? I know how physically demanding young children can be. The "teenage years" mess with your head 🤣

I sadly lost a sibling recently so l can relate to the awful loss and the desire to do things while you can.

Your make amazing progress with your mortgage whats your "End Date"?

Thank you! I’m okay. I basically have a delightful combination of auto-immune conditions so whilst I’ve never stepped foot in a gym, I’ve had to adjust to manage energy. I’m lucky to work from home 80% as I wouldn’t manage full time working and commute.

I’m sorry to hear about your sibling. It’s a horrible club to be in but definitely gives you perspective on the important things in life. Experience too in how to adjust when life throws you off course.

In my head I’ve got September 2026 as
my end date. Currently I think I’m at July 2028. By the end of the year it should be about 14500. I suppose it all depends on what bills come in 😂

Aww glad you've got the WFH option l think companies are more relaxed about it since Covid. If things go ahead with the business takeover I'm convinced that in time accounts (my dept) will be centralised to there HQ. If they don't make me redundant maybe l would get a chance for Hybrid working. I would absolutely love that !!

September 2026...how exciting ! Sending you lots of positive vibes 😊

Thanks @carboot_karaoke if it helps, our finance team come in now about once a month for a catch up. They’re resisting coming back as they don’t see the point!

    Morning all,

So I've calmed down since yesterday. I think tbh it was more the reality that things may well be about to change. But its all preliminary atm so no need to overreact, but l am mindful.

Back onto to MSE news...I sold a few more items on Vinted over the weekend, making £24.50. I also opened a cash isa and moved the surplus money from mine and the kids spending accounts into it. I was receiving a shameful sub 1% interest but now its +4%. I've earned £1.29 interest since Friday 😇

I've had NSD's since Saturday which should continue until Friday. Then Mr CK and l our off to London for the day courtesy of our children, they've booked the train tickets, activities and a restaurant and given us spending money 🥰. Which l may need to add to.

Then half term will no doubt be costly, so far l have two play dates planned at a friends house or the park l just need to add food.

    Have a good day

    Hiya me again lol

I've just paid £1600 onto my 0% cc for my eldest's car insurance.

The cash has just hit my account so I've made the overpayment  🥳. New balance £44,400 or £38,400 until we are credit neutral.

I know it might seem risky to be loading the credit card but l remembered that our help to save accounts mature in May 2027 (when the 0% ends)  a total of £6,000 including the bonus so I'm confident we can clear the balance.

I also remembered that this month was the final payment to HMRC for a tax credit overpayment which means another £20 a month in the kitty. To use for paying the credit card, saving, or off the mortgage.

    Afternoon all,

    I've had a really busy week !!

We had a great time in London l did treat myself to a new dress, plus tube fares etc. All in all May has been quite spendy and June doesn't look much better.

I'm trying to decide where to get my hair cut...£100 at a highly rated salon (l know a few who go there) or £20 for a cheap and cheerful trim at home. The truth is i'm not sure whether the salon can make my hair any better at the moment. l feel like l need to grow out the layers l insisted (menopausal at the time) on having put in. The significant money difference is one side of the story but, l feel like if my hair, and by association my face  :D will look better l would pay the extra. Need to hurry up and decide before the decision is made for me when no appointments are available. I'm going away with some friends next month so want it done for that.
