I moved from Chase to Ulster for the 4.5%, not sure I can be bothered with the extra ffaff of opening a Zopa account for an extra 0.25%. Both are variable with a top up rate for 12 months. Who knows where we will be in 6 months time with either.
Why do you not have the Zopa CA/RS already? No hard search and £300/mth 7.1% RS. What's not to like?
Because I have Regular Savers with Monmouthshire (7% and 6% £1500 per month), First Direct (7% £300), Co-op (7%, £250), Nationwide (6.5% £200), BofS & Halifax (£250 x 2, 5.5%) and Santander (£200, 5%). So by cycling money from an easy saver into those each month and as I am retired now I still need to live and have money to move from the easy saver to my current account each month. I know that the Zopa is 7.1% but come on, there becomes a point when you have to say I'm happy with what I have and I cannot honestly be bothered chasing the extra 0.1% or 0.25% percentages.

There are other things to be getting on with in life. I know this is a money saving website but I think I'm doing ok and I'm not losing a second of sleep in missing out on a few extra quid of interest.
Whilst I do agree to a point, it takes moments to open a Zopa biscuit account with immediate access to a 7.1% RS. I too am in my pasture years, but why let 7.1% go when it's easily accessible?

How many Cahoot accounts of each are "allowed" then? Mine also shows a £25 on a newSS opened today> How do I get this money? They have not asked for any bank details (though I do have existing TCB a/c)
One each, according to the T&Cs. The systems don’t enforce the T&Cs, though.

There is a good chance a human will have a look at your account before the cashback gets authorised. For that reason, I am passing on these particular cashback offers. Sleeping 🐕🐕 and all that……
Unlike the Sunny Day Saver, the Simple Saver mentions nothing about any restrictions on the number that can be held.

absolutely this - there is nothing wrong with opening multiple Simple Saver accounts as there is no mention of not being able to do so in its terms, unlike the Sunny Day Saver which explicitly limits opening to one per issue per solo/joint.

my recollection, from previous posts in this thread, is that the Cahoot systems prevent direct opening of more than one of the same SDS issue - though I can't speak to this personally as I have never even tried to open more than one of the same SDS issue directly.

I think it's implied in one of the error messages I saw once that there is a limit to the number of accounts you can have - no idea what it is, but it won't be single figures... in any event, the idea that Santander would honour cashback on multiple accounts being opened is not a viable one in my opinion.... nor do I think it should even be attempted to try it.

Was disappointed to receive their notification.  I've always considered them a 'reasonable' provider (return wise), but they appear to be pre-empting a cut and also probably by a wider margin (over a BoE 0.25% cut).

  • Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster!

Like many I'm one who has their bonus rate with Chase coming to an end this week.

I still have some money with Zopa across various pots for ease of dividing up my savings so am interested in the new 4.75% rate they've launched if I open their Biscuit account.

Question for those who have done this though. Is the new 4.75% rate in relation to just one singular savings pot? Or would I be able to apply the 4.75% rate across all the existing savings pots I currently have with Zopa too? Which are all on poor rates currently.

    Thanks!

I don't think the bonus rate is restricted to the primary Access pot, so it should apply to all of your Access pots if you have more than one.
