Apologies if this has already been mentioned, it's a new one on me and I don't recall seeing it here. Sidekick easy access, funds held at Oaknorth, so full FSCS cover, 4.75% AER incl. 0.45% Sidekick bonus for 12 months on balances up to £35,000, unlimited next working day withdrawals.

Deposits can apparently also be made by DD, which could help those looking for extra DDs.

I've taken a quick look at this and can't see anything reassuring me it can take dd payments and don't want to go to the trouble of opening without being sure.

I was going by what another user has posted in the DD thread. I can now confirm they were right.

I just did, and noticed the minimum opening deposit is £1,000. I don't have this spare until later, so haven't yet deposited. I assume there is no minimum for subsequent deposits.

There doesn't appear to be a minimum amount for the DD, but I haven't tried that.

Can it be reduced below that or is that minimum operating balance too.

Min operating balance appears to be £1.

I am not so sure now about them, though. Whilst the balance in the savings account is held with Oaknorth, and therefore has full FSCS cover, getting the money into and out of the savings account goes via the Sidekick Wallet. This is operated by Currencycloud, which is an e-money provider and thus doesn't have FSCS. There is no reason for holding money for any length of time in the Wallet but in theory they could go bust right when they have your money. You might lose all your money in the Wallet, as it's only "safeguarded". I don't like these kinds of accounts and will pass despite the nice rate.

It has just been announced that Bank Base Rate has been reduced by 0.25% to 4.5%

Clearly decided the task of getting inflation down 2% target is beyond them. Surprised UK Gov haven't "revised" the target tbh.
