I know my LL is stressed he told me he is losing hundred’s every month since the intest rate went up so much and all this time he thought the BOE would lower rates back to near zero.
I think the truth is sinking in we are never going back down to those emergency near zero interest rates again.
he is getting into all kinds of financial trouble and this late payment is going to cause him a lot more problems
He is still driving a nicer car than me, maybe he should sell that and pay off some of his interest paymentsIndeed. Your 2 days 'late' payment is insignificant so far as his finances are concerned. And as everyone has been telling you, not your problem. If he is phoning/texting etc, block him and ignore. You've already responded to him so no need to respond further. As I said earlier, this is emotional blackmail - pulling at your heartstrings in an unprofessional and frankly pointless way. He'd do better to sell his car and buy a banger, or sell the property to another LL - but that's not for you to point out to him!1 -

Can't see the point of giving him your new address.
Ask too soft IMHO1 -

I am now for the first time ever late paying my rent
is there any way I can get compensation from Barclays?
You need to stop worrying about this and next time pay your rent a few days early so this doesn't happen again.
are you seriously suggesting that because the banks are becoming unreliable these days that you should make all your payments a few days early so that you are not late making payments?
In the past having a direct debit or standing order was always something that could be relied upon.
I don't think he needs to, but clearly it's stressing the OP out, so it's not an unreasonable thing to do to prevent the same stress in a few months time.0 -

He or she just needs to ignore the landlord.5 -

And yes, it is sensible to not leave things to the last possible moment.0 -

When the LL's personal finances start encroaching then it's a strong sign it's time to move.
Many years ago we rented a place - cash collected in person by the LL every month as was the style.
Then my wife ended up in hospital and we were a day late as a result. Offered to pay electronically, turned down - needed it 'on the black'. Ended up meeting the panicky LL in a shopping centre near the hospital so I could hand over the cash to her.
Soon after this, inevitably, people started turning up at our door looking for money... Needing money in an account on a non-banking day should definitely be ringing alarm bells.2 -

If you really wanted to get a payment to a destination by 8th June, you should have scheduled it for 7th June. Or earlier if you wanted it to work every month including counting for bank holidays). Its up to you if that's something you want to aim for. For rent payments, there's no impact on you if it arrives after the weekend.
As between you and Barclays, they haven't failed anything for a payment scheduled for 8th June. Also even if they had (they haven't), compensation would be based on your financial loss, which is £0 since you can't be charged late fees or evicted based on 2 days late rent.1
