My rent is due today the 8th of every month, the funds are still there in my account. My LL is messaging me saying he needs the funds immediately and will cost him a lot if I’m late paying
Barclays say there is a problem and payment won’t go out for some reason
they just say we’re sorry payments to non Barclays accounts won’t go out until we are back up and running
it’s never been a problem before and I’ve never been a day late with my rent

Banks don't generally process standing orders or direct debits on weekends. Is that how you are sending it?
Your landlord should at least wait until Monday for the money.1 -
I’m talking to my LL about trying to withdraw the cash and giving it to him do he can physically pay into his account as he needs it desperately as he is way in the red with charges apparently.I’m very unhappy with Barclays as they won’t give me a reason why payments have all stopped
it’s not on the news but has there been a cyber attack or something or something else like a black swan event?0 -
My Barclays app pre-warned that payments to non Barclays accounts wouldn't be going out between 01:00 and 06:30 on June 9th, so there must be some systems works they're doing this weekend2

But you go and get cash (can you even get that much from a cash point as I know mine is limited to £250 a day) and then give it to him, but what will he do with it? He can't put it in the bank this weekend.R200 said:I’m talking to my LL about trying to withdraw the cash and giving it to him do he can physically pay into his account as he needs it desperately as he is way in the red with charges apparently.I’m very unhappy with Barclays as they won’t give me a reason why payments have all stopped

Just explain that the bank doesn't process payments on the weekend and you apologise but it will be with him first thing on Monday.1 -
Hope it’s sorted by Monday but they just say when they are back up and running againhousebuyer143 said:

Assuming they reopen Monday morning I need £2200 in cash but I think they limit it to £2k per day unless you give them notice?housebuyer143 said:

why can’t my LL put money in, are other banks down also claiming maintenance issues?0 -
No, but can you deposit cash if the bank is closed? And if you do, will it even show as available until Monday?R200 said:

It's not a new thing that lots of banking related things only happen on working days. If you apologize to the landlord and transfer it on Monday I can't see how it's negatively affected him.

How was the payment setup, standing order?
The text you are quoting is for works taking place tomorrow (Sunday 9th) not today (Saturday 8th) and doing a check of both their status, Twitter/X and DownDetector there does not appear to be any issues. Can you do a check by sending a small amount to another non-Barclays account you have or to friend or family member to see if it gets through?0 -
His financial problems are not yours. He is running a business and should be able to work to a budget just like the rest of us.R200 said: he needs it desperately as he is way in the red with charges apparently.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
