Regular post is assumed to have been served x days later (depending on 1st or 2nd class) and for small civil claims, the person can act on their own behalf, no need for a lawyer.
Re what to do: you don't need to do anything, and can just wait for if / when they issue a court claim. Its cheap to send a LBA in the hopes it scares you, but there's actual fees involved (albeit small) to file a court claim. If they have no valid claim then there's no court fees for you either.
Alternatively you could clearly write back to them ONCE ONLY, to say that it was a private as is sale, where the buyer or his repreesentative were able to inspect the camper in detail. You do not believe anything is due, and the buyer will just incur unnecessary court fees. You also ask them to cease with tarnishing your name or you will counterclaim for this. The idea is to discourage him from filing a court claim.. not because you'd lose, but because it'll stress you out further. Only reply once, don't get sucked into ongoing back and forth.
This is what I am going to do next. I have all letters, texts, whatsapp messages, messenger texts and screenshots of him slating me on my own campervan groups. Also messages slating my garage mechanic.
There are so many that when I showed CAB this morning she agreed it borders on harassment.
thank you to everyone for making me feel better.3 -

It means he is trying to bully you into submission. Do not contact him whatsoever.7 -
I have taken the advise from this forum and totally ignored the buyer.
I was at a Festival from Thursday 25th July and on the Saturday I got a long text message off him again saying because I have not responded they are pressing ahead with the CAB and court action.
Now, I don't know much about engines but I do know Japanese imported vehicles need undersealing on import to help protect their undersides from the salt we put on our roads in winter, something that Japan do not do.
The day before I bought it in 2021 the guy I bought it from had the MOT done for me.
the advisories were as follows:
1 power steering has slight seepage from a component rack [ I had this done in Wigan it cost £121
2 front brake disc worn, pitted or scored [ I also paid for new brakes the same week
3 Underbody heavily undersealed [ I was happy to know it had been undersealed but to make sure everything was ok around the next MOT I had new sills, wheel bearing replaced and I had removal of old underseal and re-undersealed as this is meant to be redone every couple of years. He is saying that I knew there were issues with corroded pipes because it was heavily undersealed when I bought it! He has the receipts for the removal of old underseal and reseal.
He is saying I knew the GEAR BOX pipes were corroded because he can see the POWER STEERING component had a slight seepage. This was nothing to do with the gear box and I had it fixed 3 years ago.
I received another text off his wife this morning saying my garage knew about the gear box as it was an advisory by one of my garages.[ he is referring to the UNDERSEAL] there has never been an issue or any advisory re gear box.
I went to CAB today who said my only recourse is to wait to see if they take me to court but they are UNABLE to help or offer LEGAL advice, so I am guessing the buyer is not being truthful about his branch of CAB as he says they are advising him all the way.
I can't afford solicitors as I am a pensioner on only state pension I am losing sleep over this and it's stressing me so much that it's making me ill.
He bought the vehicle on 29th May so it has been 3 months now.
wits end doesn't come into it
Should I keep ignoring him and his wife do you think? thank you again.
If anyone would like to view the MOT history the reg number is below.

Block both him and his wife so that you no longer get texts from them. Then wait to see if any proper court letters (as opposed to threats) arrive. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4 -
Block both him and his wife and anyone else you get any further messages from so that you no longer get texts from them. You should’ve done that long time ago as I think has already been advised. Then wait to see if any proper court letters (as opposed to threats) arrive. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Just ignore if and until you receive court summons and then no doubt some kind person here will advise you about a defence
There is no way the CAB have advised him to go to court if I am understanding the situation correctly
The buyers are also talking nonsense by bringing up advisories from 3 years and 20,000 miles ago and your thinking should be "so what"
Without being rude a prudent buyer understands that a 20 year old camper is very possibly one step away the scrap yard in any case and i suspect a court are going to agree.
