My reading was pretty much in line with what I usually generate over summer.  But it still queried it.  But it did actually allow me to submit the reading.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Still waiting for the credit from April to last week.
August 23rd -    Now received direct to my Electric account.

Expecting all to be automatic with no need for me to take readings
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Are you on the FIT scheme? With the FIT scheme, the biggest element for most people is paid for what you generate, which is measured by a separate meter to your smart meter. So even if you have a smart meter which is all working as it should, you'll still need to submit a reading from your generation meter to get the FIT payment because it comes from a different meter.

Just had this month's FIT statement, having submitted the reading on 1st. Haven't had the payment yet, but the statement says it will be made within 5 days so looking promising.
  • Still waiting for my June FIT payment.  Now 95 days and nothing from them other than promises.  I’ve received emails saying that cheques were in the post and nothing.
Sent an email 3 days ago asking when I might be paid.  Total silence.
13 years with EDF and no problems and now this rubbish.

  • EDF finally got back to me.  After sending my meter reading for June to September as requested they sent  my statement  through in quick time just like the old days.  Said that the payment will be in my account within 5 working days. No sign of  yet though.
However, I emailed EDF again as I still have not received the fit payment for March to June. This is well past 90 days.
So, I've sent yet another mail and as usual no response to that.
    This really is poor service.

I tried to submit my reading, but their website thought it was "too high", "too low", or a "third option I can't remember"... Sigh.

So I emailed instead, and included a photo of my meter.

This is the first reading / payment since I moved the deemed export part over to metered export with Octopus, so I shall await an email saying it's all gone horribly wrong.

This all worked OK in the end.

They replied to my email within 48hrs to thank me, and say that they'd sort my invoice out.

Invoice received last week , and money is in my bank today.

I wasn't 100% sure I'd clicked on the correct link when trying to submit my reading, as it was the first one since I'd switched my deemed exports from EDF, to metered with Octopus, hence emailing my reading to them. And the system giving me lots of warnings, that  the reading may have been incorrect

Looks like their system is working properly again too, as payment was straight to my bank, and not by cheque.
  • Just adding to the saga of delayed payments. It took 3 months to finally receive a cheque for my June reading. I gave them my meter reading for September on 1st September. On Monday 2nd September they sent me a Statement which was totally incorrect. I called them and they agreed it was wrong and regenerated my Statement which arrived later that day saying payment within 5 working days.

Roll forward to today....still no payment....called them and they said that they sent out 'some emails and some letters' on Monday saying that payment will now be 10 working days as it is a 'business requirement'....

Wholly unimpressed and now moving to an alternative FIT provider.
  • So meter readings were given on 2 September for Q_E 30 September.

Email received from EDF on 6 September with attachment described as "Your Feed in Tariff invoice" with an invoice number and quoting the correct account number. Payment to be made 5 working days from 6 September.

This morning another email from EDF with an attachment described as "Invoice number ******" dated today with no account number quoted. Entirely different number from the 6 September invoice. Narrative explains that payment will be made 5 working days from 11 September.

What is going on? Should I be expecting 2 payments now (TIC)?

Looks like EDF are bumbling along with this back office change in a haphazard manner.

Interesting to read post from @Discovery_Shropshire as I was not aware you could switch FIT providers. Something I might look into.

I've now had a second email which contains the same statement that I was issued last week but in the old format. It says payment will be made in 5 days. So it looks to me like they've made a step forward in that the new system is now collecting the data and producing statements, but not got the payment system working yet for everyone so have reverted to the old system for payments. Let's see what happens.

I can see why some on here are thinking of jumping ship, but personally I'll be staying put for now, for 3 reasons:

    1. The service has always been good before now and if I take an overall view I'd rate them quite highly. Obviously not at the moment but overall they've been good.
    2. Changing FIT providers is not as easy as changing energy suppliers and (as well as the documentation you have to provide) requires some work on the part of the supplier you are leaving. Given that EDF are obviously having problems, it's a fair guess that they'll struggle to offer a quick service to folks that are switching and my guess is that they'll have fixed the current issues before the switch completes anyway.
    3. The FIT scheme started in 2010 which is light years ago in IT terms so any supplier that hasn't yet upgraded their system is likely to have to soon, and it's a fair guess they'll run into the same problems as EDF anyway, negating the benefit of moving. And given that the scheme ended in 2019 (??? I think) the systems will need to last another 15 years or so until the final payments are made. Suppliers upgrading their systems now may just about get away with not needing to upgrade.

Not that I'd disagree with the comments about the "crapness" of the current situation, but the pragmatist in me is telling me to stay put at the moment. Better the devil you know....
