They have given up waiting for their machines to work and posted me a cheque too.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I submitted my usual solar meter reading at the end of June and instead of getting a bank transfer within a couple of days, as we've had for the last 8 years or so, got the email saying they were "upgrading" and would send a cheque.  It's now 6 weeks later and still no cheque.  So I'm extremely unhappy.

I'm going to phone them tomorrow and ask for an immediate bank transfer to include interest for the whole period at 5%.   If not I suppose the next step is to complain to OFGEM.   It is just unbelievable that they think replacing BACS payments by cheques is an "upgrade".

Hi Clive, they are in the process of changing their system and have had problems which is the reason for the cheque. All being well normal service will be resumed with your next payment (fingers crossed). Note that the submission dates have changed for some users too.

I'm not sure exactly what the rules are but EDF have been consistently paying in a few days for years now when they are allowed to take weeks - I can't remember whether they get 30 or 90 days to pay. So your payment may not actually be late, and if it is not by much. It's just not early this time.

I can appreciate your frustration but hopefully this information shines a different light on things....
  • Had the same problem with EDF.  All promises.  Sending me a cheque, twice.  Never received.  In their last message to me they apologised  but also added that in the past they have over achieved on sending my FIT payments!  Well they are certainly making up for it now.  I'm guessing its going to be September before I get my FIT payment from July

Still no payment from EDF. Telephoned on Monday and was advised "cheque in post" - not heard that one for a long time!

Apparently sent second class (can you believe that?) on the 24th and I needed to wait 10 working days before I could chase them.

Still nothing received either in the bank or post as of July 4.

I'll be wasting another half hour on the 'phone later then.

    Not great.

How have people found the experience of moving their accounts? Presumably this doesn't mess the original contract/FIT rates up?
We moved everything from EDF to Octopus after trying just to move our export payments which EDF claimed would be too complicated for them.
The process with Octopus was well managed but held up by EDF not agreeing to the switch promptly, presumably because of what is being discussed here.

A switch date of 16th April was set by Octopus, but it took EDF almost 2 months to agree.  However Octopus took over all payments to us from 16th April, at the correct existing FIT rate, and we went immediately onto Outgoing Octopus at 15p per kWh instead of 50% deemed export.
To complete the saga……we actually received the payment for up to 16th April from EDF around the usual time for the April-June quarter, 28th June, by BACS as usual, without having to contact them again.   And Octopus were quick to pay the FIT when we submitted our June reading.
Relieved it is all sorted out now!

I don't know why you are making excuses for them bur i think it is really stupid of them to bring in a new system and get rid of the old one without testing the new one properly.   And I strongly resent being sent a payment, more than a month later than usual, and by cheque.  I haven't had one of those for years and not even sure of the easiest way to pay it in.  I see that EDF refuse to allow their customers to pay their energy bills by sending them cheques in the post, so inflicting cheques on us is nothing short of complete hypocrisy.   And some of the messages I've received say that the payment will be by BACS as usual and some by cheque.  Both of them can't be right.  I really resent having EDF lie to me so often.   And these are the people that the government thinks are competent to construct a new nuclear power station.  Really, you couldn't make it up.

You can resent whatever you like.

It doesn't make either side right or wrong, or progress the situation in any useful manner though.

There's a board elsewhere in this forum for venting frustration.

Is there an actual rule that you would like help understanding whether or not had been broken?

    Totally agree with your sentiments.

I don't think they are in breach of contract in terms of the payment timescale but it is clearly an extremely poor reflection on the manner in which EDF have processed this transition. Seems on the face of it to be a right pig's breakfast.

The main fields in my mobile EDF app have still not been populated and we're now many weeks down the line from when this process first started.

It would be nice to receive some sort of update from the company but maybe that would be asking too much.
