Trying to make the most of the food i have this month. For Dinner we had chicken and i am currently boiling the bones to make stock.
Can someone please give me some advise on how long i need to boil it for and what can i turn the stock into after eg soup ?
Thanks
Hope this helps!!!
Quick tip-if you are short of time, in order to cool the stock more quickly, you can plunge the ice cube bag into cold water (please make sure that it is tied securely first!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

I have spent nearly two hours reading this thread, my comments on occasion added as I went along. There seems to be a lot of newbies, which is great. Lets all have a good year with our challenges. I would suspect that quite a few of us will go over this month because we lived within a hairs breadth of our last challenge, and the need to "gather nuts" is within us all. We need to make sure that there is food in our cupboards for the coming days ahead, I bet that most of us slow down on our spends by the end of the month, not because of necessity, but becuase we have pulled in our horns and got our act togther again.! (least I hope so).:o
Good luck to everyone in 2008 and lets hope we all have a good year this time. xxx:TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

hi all, hope everyones ok.
popped out for a few things today, thought i would try aldi never been in there before.
i was pleasantly surprised to say the lease! i spent £3.46 on
2x tubes of tomato puree
1 pack of sliced ham
large pot of colslaw
bag of spuds and 2 x tins of evap milk.
thought that was really good, so i will popping in aldi a little more often. and With a bit of luck i will stick to my budget.
I also spend £2.50 in netto on a bit of meat for tomorrows tea.
Does anyone know what the breakfast cereals are like in aldi? i wasn't sure if it was worth giving them a go.

Just been working out grocery spends. OH spent nearly £13.00 on saturday for my birthday cake and some groceries and he decided to make corned beef hash tonight. So he got everything ready then discovered we didn't have any corned beef!! (that's because he hasn't been updating my stock control properly!!!) He went to local shop and bought 2 tins of corned beef= £2.70:eek: So I need to update my sig-and i definitely need to take over the reins of cooking and grocery shopping!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Thanks Rosieben & Scotrae.
It would seem principles come at a price! I'm not really nearer a personal conclusion, but it was interesting to read 2 responses received, one for each side of the fence. Not quite a representative sample, but it doesn't get more evenly split than that.
Cheers girls

Went to Asda tonight, spent another £10.82. This week is not going so well already! So much for a shopping free week! lol
I just can't resist!!
Anyway...again 5 mini bottles of wine for hampers so £5 of it wasn't really our food budget. Not sure if I should count things I am getting for prezzies??
But I also got 4 4packs of diet coke for free!:DDream of being mortgage free....

Sorry rant over.
(in a previous life(ok 10years ago), I had home grown veg, my own chickens and eggs, etc. Now in a flat i have nothing. So supermarket home delivery really nearly all I have. Being a bankrupt, I have to use my mums bank account to buy, as Tesco dont take electron? Did ask why, never got a reply, as the tills took it? Strange. Sorry I side tracked.:oWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
